Job Description
AECOM is hiring a **Traffic Forecasting Professional** to guide transportation projects across North Carolina—ideal for someone who enjoys turning data into direction and congestion into clarity, This role offers the opportunity to work from either our Raleigh or Charlotte office, contributing to the development and maintenance of technical standards, preparing forecasts for highway projects in the **State Transportation Improvement Program** , and producing **complex travel demand models** . The position involves estimating current and future traffic volumes, preparing detailed technical reports, managing scopes of work, overseeing project progress and quality control, and serving as the primary technical leader in the business area. The successful candidate will also play a key role in client engagement.

+ Develop and maintain administrative and technical standards for traffic forecasting.
+ Prepare traffic forecasts for highway projects in the State Transportation Improvement Program.
+ Produce complex travel demand forecasts including data selection and analysis.
+ Estimate current and forecast future traffic volumes.
+ Prepare technical reports detailing the forecasting processes and decisions.
+ Determine and prepare scopes of work for traffic forecasts.
+ Monitor progress of work and perform quality control checks.
+ Effectively manage assigned projects/tasks and be in responsible charge of task activities and schedule
+ Develop new business by fostering existing and new client relationships
+ Periodic travel required within North Carolina.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum:
+ Bachelors in Civil Engineering or related field
+ 6 years of experience in traffic forecasting or related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
+ Experience in TransCAD or similary software applications
Preferred:
+ Knowledge of traffic engineering and/or transportation planning
+ Professional Engineering (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to acquire within 6 months
+ 10 plus years of experience in traffic forecasting.
+ Experience with additional related software’s such as GIS, TransModeler and Synchro.
+ NEPA & Long-Range Planning Support – Applying forecasts to environmental documents, corridor studies, and statewide/metropolitan transportation plans.
+ Coordination with MPOs & DOTs – Working with planning partners to ensure consistency with regional models and assumptions.
+ Policy & Regulatory Awareness – Familiarity with FHWA, FTA, and state guidelines for traffic and travel demand forecasts.
+ Proficient verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, and attention to detail
Additional Information
+ Periodic travel required across the State of North Carolina
+ Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
+ Relocation is not an option for this position.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $125000 to $145000.
