About the Role The Global Co-Leader of Public Relations leads and mentors an international team dedicated to proactive corporate, financial, and product storytelling while managing reputation, issues, and crisis communications with top-tier global media and influencers. This role: Is vital to SAP as they shape and manage SAP’s reputation through effective media engagement and handling crisis situations. They drive market perception and support strategic business goals by effectively managing crisis situations and media engagement as well as leading impactful PR campaigns highlighting SAP’s advancements in business AI, data management or sovereign cloud solutions. Is responsible for achieving strong increases in SAP’s presence and sentiment in global Tier 1 earned media and enhancing the global reach and impact of messaging through scalable storytelling and systematic content optimization. In close collaboration with the German co-leader, the candidate will transform the corporate PR team into a high-performing, cohesive unit with a focus on Tier 1 media objectives and ensure alignment with regional, , internal, marketing/social media, government affairs, and analyst relations functions. This role involves tracking performance metrics such as media reach and sentiment, using this data to evaluate the effectiveness of their strategies and make necessary adjustments. Is empowered to operate with a high level of autonomy and accountability, making strategic and operational decisions related to media relations, media crises, global storytelling. Key Responsibilities Define and lead SAP’s U.S. public relations strategy on technology policy, with a focus on AI, sovereignty, enterprise innovation and the evolving regulatory environment Serve as a trusted advisor to C-level on media strategy, reputation risk, and positioning, working closely with government affairs representatives. Cultivate and deepen relationships with top-tier national and policy media, Capitol Hill correspondents, and influential think tanks Shape and secure high-impact media coverage that advances SAP’s business priorities and policy perspectives Oversee the development of assets including op-eds, contributed content and media briefings on complex regulatory issues Steer cross-functional collaboration with U.S.- and globally based teams in areas including Government Relations, Legal and Investor Relations, as well as marketing, product and engineering, to ensure message alignment and strategic coherence Partner closely with other global communications functions and policy teams to ensure consistency of messaging across regions and alignment on international regulatory narratives Act as SAP’s senior spokesperson when appropriate, and prepare executives for high-stakes media engagements Monitor the evolving media landscape and proactively identify opportunities to position SAP as a thought leader What You Bring 15 years of experience in public relations, strategic communications, or media, with deep expertise in technology & policy Proven success leading communications during major regulatory moments, legislative debates, or public affairs campaigns Executive presence and experience advising senior leaders in high-pressure, high-visibility environments Strong network of relationships with influential journalists, editors, and in Washington, DC, Silicon Valley and beyond Exceptional storytelling skills and the ability to translate complex topics into compelling narratives Track record of securing message-driven coverage that shapes public discourse Deep understanding of the U.S. and global media landscape, particularly regarding AI, enterprise technology and regulatory frameworks Preferred Qualifications University degree (preferably in communications or journalism) Long-standing relevant professional experience in internal and external communication Experience in managing, motivating and developing employees Strong strategic and analytical skills Excellent editorial skills in both topic development and linguistic realization Digital expertise Ability to move confidently in global teams, decentralized structures and involve the organizational units Calm under pressure, very strong in crisis situations Bring out your best SAP innovations help more than four hundred thousand customers worldwide work together more efficiently and use business insight more effectively. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 292700 - 497700(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
