    The incumbent of this position performs the duties of Assistant Warden of Administration at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following:

    1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or

    2. A bachelor's degree.

    OR

    A master's degree plus three years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; OR

    A doctorate plus two years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

    An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.

     

    In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.

    Job Duties and Other Information

     

    + Direct the activities of the Business Office, through the Administrative Program Director 3, for Budget Control ($54.6 million appropriation), Accounting, Inmate Banking, Purchasing, Inmate Canteen (1.9 million), Inmate Organizations, and Property Control.

    + Direct the activities of the Culinary Section through the Correction Food Manager 3. Responsible for $1.6 million annual foodstuffs, applicable equipment and supplies, preparation of meals daily, sanitation, commodity inventory, bakery, D-1 kitchen, D-2 kitchen, diet kitchen, nutrition.

    + Direct the activities of the Information Services Department through the Information Technology Technical Support Supervisor. Develop strategic plans for the use of information technology within the prison, with particular emphasis on the most efficient use of advanced technology while maintaining security within the facility. Oversee network security, hardware and software security, prioritization of I.T. development/enhancement projects, and negotiation of contracts with vendors.

    + Direct the activities of the Warehouse through the Warehouse Supervisor. Responsible for receiving, storage and issuance of approximately $7.4 million in supplies and equipment each year; restocking of merchandise; purchase authorization; inventory; warehouse withdrawals; storage of goods.

    + Oversee the Maintenance Department through the Facility Maintenance Manager B. Maintenance activities include inspecting of all maintenance and construction programming and scheduling activities of repairs, construction, and day-to day maintenance at Elayn Hunt Correctional center.

    + Oversee the Human Resources Department through the Human Resource Manager A. Human resource activities include classification and pay, employee administration, operations, benefits, hiring, Worker’s Compensation, disciplinary actions, Affirmative Actions, credit union, performance evaluation, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, Family Medical Leave Act and Fair Labor Standards Act compliance, and personnel records.

    + Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.

    + An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.

    + This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
