    INTERVIEWING CLERK - OPS Florida Department of Children & Families - Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency

     

    This is an open, competitive,OPS opportunity. As a State of Florida Other Personal Services (OPS) employee, you may be eligible for insurance benefits and are automatically enrolled into a qualified retirement plan. Description: The position of Interviewing Clerk OPS is a paraprofessional position assigned to the Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency with primary responsibility for reviewing applications to collect demographic information and/or provide information and referral services. This position is ideal for someone who has excellent computer/data entry skills, a high degree of organizational skills and enjoys the challenge of tight deadlines.

     

    Annual Salary: $34,760.00 annually.

     

    Internal salary appointments are determined according to DCF Salary policy.

    Typical duties:

    • Determines eligibility for expedited food assistance services;

    • Explains eligibility to applicants and recipients applying/receiving public assistance; • Enters client data into database based on intake of caller information; • Maintains necessary files and records; • Completes general clerical duties including using computer to input data of clients who are applying for public assistance benefits;

    • Answers phones;

    • Uses photocopy machine, scanner and other office equipment;

    • Conducts application registration;

    • Schedules appointments;

    • Performs intake interviews;

    • Conducts statewide clearance and reconciles any discrepancies on all household members;

    • Maintain office email accounts and serves as clerical backup for units.

     

    Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of clerical or public contact experience. College education from an accredited institution or vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 class room hours for each year of the required experience.

    • Ability to speak/read/write Spanish/Creole/French or other foreign language may be considered in the selection process as determined by Agency need at time of interview and/or selection.
