As a member of the site automation team specializing as Design Technician, you’ll collaborate with operators and engineers to identify manufacturing challenges and develop custom solutions. A key focus will be partnering with engineers to bring their ideas to life, transforming concepts into practical fixtures and manufacturing aids that improve efficiency and safety. Using CAD/SolidWorks, you’ll create detailed designs and oversee projects from concept through fabrication, working closely with vendors to source materials and ensure timely, high-quality results. You’ll review prototypes, gather feedback, and refine your designs as needed, contributing to a safer and more efficient manufacturing environment.

This on-site position is based in Plymouth, MN, within the Global Ops Supply Chain (GOSC) at a manufacturing site supporting the Peripheral Vascular Health business unit.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

+ Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing and field service operations.

+ Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools, such as CAD, CAM, CATIA, ProEngineer, Solidworx or Siemens NX Software.

+ Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.

+ Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.

+ Design and develop fixtures, manufacturing aids, and custom equipment to support production and automation.

+ Collaborate with vendors to source materials and coordinate fabrication.

+ Partner with operators and engineers to identify and implement process improvements.

+ Ensure all designs meet safety, quality, and operational standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Certificate, or Associate’s degree, in a relevant technical field.

+ Proficiency in CAD/SolidWorks.

+ Experience designing custom equipment, fixtures, or manufacturing aids.

+ Familiarity with sourcing, tooling fabrication, and working with external vendors.

+ Understanding of cutting tool geometry and applications.

+ Ability to read and interpret advanced drawings with GD&T.

+ Skill in conceptualizing and sketching tools, fixtures, and gauges.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

+ Requires minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

+ Requires high school diploma, or equivalent.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$80,400.00 - $120,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
