What you’ll be doing:
The Manager, Category Development leads the development and execution of strategic category initiatives for the Private Brands team. Their goal is to drive sales and loyalty for Staples, Inc and across our partner channels by building an industry-leading private brand assortment. This role marries category understanding with both product development and execution.
+ Develop and manage category strategies to enhance product assortment and improve customer satisfaction.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement category plans and achieve sales targets.
+ Analyze market trends and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities.
+ Lead, coach, and develop a team of professionals to build a high-performance culture.
+ Direct impact on sales growth and profitability through strategic category management.
+ Drive category innovation to respond to evolving market conditions and consumer preferences.
+ Contribute to overall business strategy through proactive category management and development.
+ Influence long-term strategic planning with data-driven insights and category expertise.
+ Foster an environment that encourages creative thinking and risk-taking.
+ Lead change management initiatives within the category to stay ahead of industry trends.
+ Exercise a high degree of autonomy in decision-making to optimize category performance.
+ Evaluate complex situations using multiple sources of information.
+ Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to align on category objectives.
+ Engage with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to optimize cross-departmental processes.
What you bring to the table:
+ Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and lead a diverse team
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset
+ Ability to set clear team goals and manage project timelines and deliverables
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications
+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a management role
+ Proven track record in category management or related field
+ Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively
What’s needed - Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
+ Experience in digital category management and e-commerce
