    Job Overview

     

    Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our** **M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN** **.

     

    This role is eligible for a $6000 New Hire Sign-On Bonus,** **along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000!

     

    As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room.

     

    This role will handle CV cases, therefore prior CV scrub expertise is required.

     

    **Schedule:** This position will be working 0.8 FTE (80 hours every two weeks).

     

    Shift: Nights, 10:30PM - 7AM, Monday-Thursday

    Surgical Tech Shift Differentials:

    Evening Hours $2.00/hr

     

    Night Hours $3.00/hr

     

    Weekend Premium $2.00/hr

    About our OR at UMMC East Bank:

    + No call or holidays for this night shift position!

    + The East Bank Campus is a teaching hospital and has 24 newly renovated Operating Rooms.

    + Our Operating Room is performing an average of 60 cases per day.

    + We provide innovative surgical suites, including a hybrid suite and intraoperative MRI suites, for adult patients needing surgical intervention.

    As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:

    + Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.

    + Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.

    + Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.

    + Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.

    + Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.

    + Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.

    + Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.

    + Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.

    + Following appropriate action in emergency situations.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Complete one of the following by hire date:

    + Military Surgical Assistant; OR

    + LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR

    + Surgical Technologist training

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)

    + Current OR cardiovascular scrub experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program

    + AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire

    + 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience

    Other Required Skills:

    + Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.

    + Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.

    Desired Skills:

    + Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.

    + Ability to work well under a team environment.
