Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance and handling equipment break/fix issues. This is a hands-on role that supports production by troubleshooting and resolving a wide breath of manufacturing equipment while ensuring maximum uptime and minimal downtime.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
+ Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
+ Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
+ Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
+ Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
+ Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
+ Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications.
+ Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
+ Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
+ Work closely with Production and Engineering to monitor equipment status and performance
+ Proactive in addressing problems using the appropriate troubleshooting and repair techniques using precision measuring and testing instruments.
+ Document all repairs and the appropriate adjustments made
+ Assess the equipment’s performance and repair history and work with engineers to plan a preventative maintenance schedule as well as work on equipment upgrades as appropriate
+ Train technicians
+ Uphold technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications
+ Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
+ Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
+ Adhere to Good Manufacturing Processes, Food Safety Standards and related operational procedures
+ Other projects and duties as assigned
Required Education, Skills and Experience
+ Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Production Maintenance Technician
+ Excellent communication skills and solid interpersonal skills
+ Must have solid understanding of interpreting manuals and schematics and strong knowledge in mechanical alignment and troubleshooting automated mechanical, electrical and pneumatic equipment
+ Must have experience working with pneumatics actuators and cylinders
+ Familiarity with electrical/electronic components, Automation, Robotics, Sensors, Fiber Optics and motors
+ Basic usage of hand tools and the ability to use multimeters to troubleshoot equipment problems
+ Able to repair equipment in a timely manner and work effectively in high pressure situations
+ Experience writing maintenance procedures and reports
+ Basic MS Office and computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s or 2yr Associates degree preferred or equivalent work experience
+ PLC knowledge and experience
+ GMP experience
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
+ Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking
+ Lifting parts and tools weighing on average 20 pounds, occasionally weighing up to 80 pounds
+ Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals) manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
+ Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces
