Dispatcher (6-Month Contract, with Potential Extension)
At First Student, our Dispatchers are a constant reflection of our company’s commitment to safety and customer service. We are currently seeking a Dispatcher for a 6-month contract position, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.
The Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching all buses, ensuring on-time performance of routes, and providing guidance and support to drivers and monitors on the front line.

Dispatcher Responsibilities:
+ Oversee all routes and scheduling of buses
+ Counsel and coach drivers and monitors
+ Handle heavy phone and radio traffic
+ Receive and report all scheduling and driver complaints to the Operations Supervisor/Contract Manager
+ Serve as the primary communication liaison with major contracted customers
+ Manage charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll as assigned
+ Provide solutions to drop-off and pick-up problems
+ Perform back-up driver duties or miscellaneous clerical duties as needed
+ Complete assigned special projects
+ Assist with supervision of day-to-day operations
Dispatcher Experience and Skills Required:
+ 3–5 years of relevant experience
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
+ Excellent communication and customer service skills
+ Ability to deliver under time constraints and deadlines
+ Previous terminal operations, dispatch, or driver experience preferred
+ Computer literate
+ Subject to DOT drug testing and physical. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
