The role you'll contribute:
The Infection Preventionist is a qualified individual with knowledge of CDC guidelines and definitions of nosocomial infections, TJC standards, Federal and State regulations. The infection preventionist is responsible for the investigation, identification, reporting, prevention and control of nosocomial infections among patients and personnel. Functions as a key member of the region infection prevention and patient safety teams.

+ Collaborates with internal teams and external partners including public health officials, healthcare coalitions, and vendors to enhance infection prevention outcomes.
+ Advocates for evidence-based practices, maintaining adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
+ Participates in research and quality improvement initiatives, differentiating between QI and research, and disseminating results through education and consultation.
+ Contributes to product evaluation and cost-effectiveness initiatives, supporting organizational goals through informed decision-making and business case development.
+ Other duties as assigned.
+ Leads the implementation and continuous improvement of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program, aligning initiatives with organizational quality and safety goals.
+ Monitors compliance with IPC standards and conducts surveillance using epidemiologic principles and statistical tools to detect disease trends, clusters, and outbreaks.
+ Evaluates the effectiveness of infection surveillance systems and modifies plans based on outcome data and benchmarking.
+ Conducts facility rounding, audits, and IPC assessments, identifying gaps in cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and providing actionable feedback.
+ Develops and delivers IPC education programs customized to the audiences needs, improving staff competency and compliance.
+ Provides subject matter expertise for interdisciplinary teams, driving quality improvement and risk mitigation strategies through data analysis.
+ Performs detailed risk assessments, develops measurable action plans, and contributes to performance improvement activities.
+ Collaborates with internal teams on antimicrobial stewardship programs.
Qualifications
The expertise and experience you'll need to succeed** **:
+ Associate Required
+ Bachelor's minimum Highly Preferred
+ Two or more years of direct Healthcare work experience required
+ Analytical skills
+ Strong problem-solving skills
+ Collaboration abilities
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
+ Ability to work with and maintain the confidentiality of data and information
+ Self-management, prioritization, and organizational skills
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to implement evidence-based guidelines

+ Application of program and project management skills
+ Data collection and analysis, report writing, and data presentation skills
+ Ability to use and leverage a variety of computer programs, software applications, and information and diagnostic technologies
+ Understands role of consultant to provide resources and support
+ Infection Control Certification (CIC) Required OR
+ Long-term Care Certification in Infection Prevention (LTC-CIP) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc., (CBIC) as applicable per practice location within 2 years of full-time employment, or 3 years of part-time employment required
