             Leadership & Data Governance • Lead project work related to Teradata Database, system administration, and IT/data governance • Coordinate with teams, business partners, vendors, and customers to meet business, data, security, audit, and reporting needs—for contractual requirements. • Participate in agile development environments and large-scale Design Development and Implementation (DDI) projects. • Lead the overall data management practice for the project. System Administration & Maintenance • Manage and maintain on-prem Teradata systems and work with Teradata (as needed) including patches, upgrades, configurations, resolving/fixing vulnerabilities, and hardware replacements. • Use Viewpoint and additional tools to monitor system health, including the Teradata Managed Servers (TMS); carry out preventive and corrective measures. • Support Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, testing, quarterly maintenance, annual drills, and updating/maintaining DR plans and DR drill results. • Coordinate with Teradata and subcontractors for Teradata system hardening, ensuring the system meets Computer Security Evaluation Matrix (SCSEM) requirements, reviewing vulnerability scan results, and performing remediation. • Maintaining access rights, role rights, priority scheduling, and reporting using dynamic workload manager, Database Query Log (DBQL), usage collections and reporting of ResUsage, AmpUsage, and security administration etc. Database Operations & Optimization • Perform backup and recovery operations using BAR DSA and NetBackup. • Monitor and tune performance, capacity, and resource usage (CPU, I/O, Spool, Storage) to meet the performance and growth requirements. • Maintain workload management using Teradata Active System Management (TASM) and Workload Manager partitions. • Administer access rights, role rights, priority scheduling, and security reporting. • Deliver quality work products/deliverables to meet the project/customer needs. • Support logging requirements, perform analysis/research, and support colleagues/end users with their technical issues/questions • Lead/maintain the Disaster Recovery (DR) plan, annual DR drills, deliver results, and take required action items. • Providing day-to-day support for the EDW users' problems, like job hands, slowdowns, inconsistent rows, re-validating headers for tables with RI constraints, PPIs, and configuration. • Providing product support during business and after business hours as needed—to address production issues/problem tickets promptly. • Coordinating with the team and customers in supporting database needs and making necessary changes to meet the business, contractual, security, performance, and reporting needs. Development Support & Governance • Gather requirements, analyze, design, document, and develop database components (scripts, tables, views, DataMart's, SQL code, stored procedures, triggers, etc.) • Peer review/test the work products before moving to higher environments. Seek required approvals and maintain production install logs with required documentation for operations guide and audit support. • As applicable, perform run stats, reorgs, indexing, partitioning, and other methods to support system performance, data integrity, quality, reliability, accessibility, and availability. • Guide developers on design and implementation best practices; review/approve database components. • Support EDW users with query optimization, job handling, and data integrity issues. • Maintain and administer OpenText BI-Query models and front-end tools. • Lead database-related meetings and deliverables with minimal supervision. Reporting & Compliance • Report monthly Teradata operational reports including space and CPU utilization • Generate and maintain capacity and performance reports. • Support internal and IRS audits; address risks and vulnerabilities proactively. • Communicate work availability promptly to stakeholders, be readily available/accessible, and respond to queries/email/messages more promptly. • Submit weekly status reporting on key outcomes, progress, and priorities. • Support/ensure compliance with SCSEM and other security evaluation frameworks. • Prepare/report future roadmap and plan for patches/upgrades including change controls and following change management processes. • Reviewing, reporting, and resolving Teradata alerts and communicating any risk / issues or impact to the management, project team, and business users through appropriate communication strategy. • Travel to customer location on need basis (usually quarterly). • Live the Optum Code of Conduct and Culture Values—providing highest level of accountability, transparency, and quality. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. • Seven (7) plus years as a lead Teradata DBA (experience with Teradata Version 15 plus or higher) with database application and system responsibilities. • Experience with on premises Teradata 6800/1800 or IntelliFlex systems or equivalent. • Expert in SQL skills and Teradata utilities (such as Teradata Studio/SQL Assistant, FastLoad, Multiload, FastExport, BTEQ, TPT). • Proven performance tuon-premisesning experience in large databases (>5TB). • Two (2) plus years of data governance experience and supporting metadata management. • Healthcare/Medicaid/Government or equivalent business domain experience. • System administration knowledge/experience (in addition to application DBA and SQL expertise). • Lead experience with clear demonstration of leadership tasks like deliverables quality review, tasks assignment, integration of work, presentation to customers/leadership, capacity planning (such as processing, space), and performance management. • Two (2) plus years of experience with large-scale Design Development and Implementation (DDI) projects especially related to Enterprise Data Warehouse system. • Experience in database specification development, testing, and defect/issue resolution. • Excellent business, communication, client-facing, and mentoring skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Teradata Vantage Certified Master. • Data modeling experience (Erwin or similar). • Experience in agile environments (Scrum, DevOps, GitHub). • ETL development knowledge/experience or data analysis experience (such as Informatica tools) • Reports development knowledge/experience (such as Business Objects, SAS, Tableau, Power BI tools) • Cloud migration experience (especially related to Snowflake, Azure) • No visa sponsorship required • Located within two hours of Springfield, IL, or based in the Central region Functional Description: The Senior DBA Lead is a lead role on our team responsible for the overall database application management, system administration, data governance, and data delivery of the Enterprise Data Warehouse for the Medicaid agency, including application and system tasks. It is a critical role involving expertise in working with Medicaid data itself, data governance, security, audits, disaster recovery, supporting and maintaining Teradata hardware and software, configuring Teradata, setting up new environments, and ensuring the system achieves optimal performance and operational requirements. For example, the DBA is expected to provide a wide range of expertise, including the ability to help a user to fetch data (requiring business knowledge) and the technical ability to lead a major Teradata upgrade and complete complex Teradata hardware/software system configurations/patches/upgrades in partnership with Teradata. Analyzes current business practices, processes, and procedures, as well as identifies future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities. Manage relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential architectural impact of different vendor strategies and data acquisition. May design schemas, data models, write SQL or other data markup scripting, and help to support the development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data. This position also identifies/selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function and support DBA backup plans.
