    JOB SUMMARY

    This position’s function is to ensure that customers are transported to their destination in a timely manner by scheduling pick up and drops off of customers. Other duties include taking requests from customers, answer customer questions, and dispatching when needed.  This position has been designated as safety-sensitive. Employees in safety-sensitive positions are subject to drug and alcohol testing under Rock Region METRO's policy and applicable federal regulations. The employee must be able to perform job duties in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their coworkers, and the public at all times.

     

    The person selected to fill this position must be flexible in the hours of work and will be required to work some weekends. Computer and Customer Service Skills are critical to this position as well as knowledge of the streets in the Links service area (Little Rock/North Little Rock).

    CURRENTLY HIRING FOR THE FOLLOWING SHIFT

    Monday, 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm

     

    Tuesday, 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm

     

    Wednesday, 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm

     

    Thursday, 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm

     

    Friday, Off day

     

    Saturday, Off day

     

    Sunday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

    ESSEMTIAL FUNCTIONS

    + Assist the Paratransit Dispatcher dispatching when needed

    + Keep routes updated & on time, which includes insertions and cancellations, are relayed to driver in a timely manner.

    + Operate 2-way radio to communicate with Drivers

    + Respond to driver requests for assistance.

    + Provide customers with general information

    RESPONSIBILITIES -  Includes but are not limited to the following:

    + Take customer requests for service and make confirmation callbacks.

    + Develop driver schedules from service requests, using computerized scheduling software.

    + Data entry, record keeping, preparation of reports and correspondence.

    + Provide customer information.

    MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    + Graduation from high school or equivalent

    + Three (3) years of verifiable dispatching experience and one (1) year of experience working with the general public.

    + Good time management and multi-tasking skills.

    + Good computer skills

    KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

    Knowledge of:

    + Traffic laws, ordinances, rules and driving courtesies involved in transit operations.

    + Ability to read maps; familiarity with streets and landmarks in the LR/NLR area.

    + Principles and practices of customer service.

    + Dispatch & Scheduling applications.

    + Math and record-keeping skills.

    + Good language and composition skills.

    + Excellent public relations skills, clear speaking voice.

    Ability to:

    + Learn METRO’s policies and procedures.

    + Read, write, and make basic mathematic calculations.

    + Exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills.

    + Understand and follow oral and written instructions spoken or written in English.

    + Provide on-time and dependable service to the public.

    + Learn METRO’s transit routes and schedules.

    + Maintain a friendly and courteous demeanor when interacting with the public, passengers, and fellow employees through tactful, patient, and courteous interactions.

     

    This position requires working evening shifts on various days of the week, including holidays and some weekends. Work is primarily performed in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent must: Regularly hear, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Finger and manual dexterity are regularly needed to operate computer and radio. Frequently talk, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects. Have a high degree of memory and concentration.

     

    Full package of benefits; health, dental, vision, life, deferred compensation, and paid vacation & sick time. Starting rate of pay $19.00.
