This position requires a deep understanding of Epic Ambulatory functionality, clinical workflows, and best-practice design to support providers and staff across outpatient and specialty care environments. The Analyst functions as a subject matter expert (SME) within an AMS model, providing expert-level support to multiple clients, offering product insight, and driving optimization initiatives that enhance usability, performance, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate brings both technical and operational acumen, collaborating with clients to improve system adoption, clinical documentation, and care coordination — supporting organizational growth and strategic expansion initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

Epic Ambulatory Design, Build & Configuration

+ Lead configuration, build, and optimization activities for EpicCare Ambulatory, including SmartSets, SmartForms, SmartLinks, SmartTexts, preference lists, order panels, and visit types.

+ Translate clinical and operational requirements into efficient Epic designs that improve provider workflow, compliance, and patient experience.

+ Collaborate with ambulatory operations, physicians, and care teams to standardize workflows and ensure alignment with best practices.

+ Design and maintain specialty-specific configurations that support integrated care delivery and reduce documentation burden.

+ Participate in Epic version upgrades, evaluating new functionality and implementing relevant features.

+ Maintain comprehensive build documentation and adhere to AMS configuration management and change control standards.

    AMS Support & Maintenance

+ Provide advanced L2/L3-level application support for EpicCare Ambulatory across multiple AMS clients, ensuring timely resolution of issues and optimization of workflows.

+ Troubleshoot build defects, workflow gaps, and integration issues across related modules (MyChart, Orders, ClinDoc, or Cadence).

+ Execute configuration changes, environment updates, and testing according to AMS SLAs and governance processes.

+ Monitor performance, proactively identifying trends and recommending sustainable improvements.

+ Participate in regression testing and validation during upgrades or client-specific optimization projects.

Subject Matter Expertise & Client Advisory

+ Serve as the Epic Ambulatory SME, providing thought leadership on design strategy, system optimization, and Epic roadmap alignment.

+ Offer product insight into Epic Ambulatory capabilities, upcoming features, and module limitations to guide client decisions.

+ Support RFP responses, solution design sessions, and business development efforts with technical and workflow expertise.

+ Advise clients on strategies for provider engagement, documentation efficiency, and clinical quality improvement through Epic optimization.

+ Partner with clients to support expansion initiatives, specialty growth, and integration with external systems or service lines.

    Collaboration & Delivery Excellence

+ Collaborate closely with other AMS analysts and leads supporting related modules (MyChart, Orders, Cadence, ClinDoc) to deliver cohesive, integrated Epic support.

+ Participate in client governance and AMS performance review meetings, reporting on incident trends, build activity, and optimization progress.

+ Mentor and coach junior analysts, sharing best practices and supporting knowledge transfer within the AMS team.

+ Contribute to AMS templates, documentation standards, and toolkits that enhance delivery consistency and client value.

    Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Nursing, or related field (or equivalent experience).

+ Minimum 5+ years of EpicCare Ambulatory experience in build, configuration, and support within a healthcare IT, consulting, or AMS environment.

+ Active EpicCare Ambulatory certification required (additional certifications such as MyChart, Cadence, or Orders a plus).

+ Deep understanding of Epic Ambulatory workflows, including provider documentation, ordering, scheduling, and care coordination.

+ Experience supporting ambulatory specialty clinics (e.g., cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, primary care).

+ Proven success in application support, build optimization, and cross-module integration.

+ Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and clients in a fast-paced AMS or consulting environment.
