Collins Aerospace is looking for a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer who will manage supplier quality processes and projects as an individual contributor. You will work to achieve both supplier and site objectives that have major impact(s) on the Supplier Quality organizational goals. You will also use your expertise to execute and improve on supplier qualification / certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processes. Building strong relationships within the supply base, buyers, program quality/programs, as well as the operation sites will be critical to success. In addition, you will have direct customer and internal executive level interaction in support of supplier quality initiatives.

This position will be worked Hybrid to Chula Vista, CA; Mexicali, MX. 3 days a week onsite pending business needs.

What You Will Do:

+ Supports onsite investigations of potential supplier issues to determine accurate disposition.

+ Manages supplier quality issues through monitoring / escalation processes, escape management, processing of supplier submission of non-conforming material and supporting internal MRB processes.

+ Initiates part specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.

+ Supports supplier qualification / certification and FAI activity.

+ Manages source inspection and material release processes.

+ Performs Escape management procedures, drives root cause analysis & problem solving (Red-X & 8D) and recommends corrective and preventive action for systemic process and product design problems for product provided by suppliers.

+ Drives Corrective Action Boards/QC Clinics with suppliers.

+ Analyzes quality data to identify systemic issues and develops supplier specific quality initiative strategies and addresses with key proactive quality tools (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, SPC, etc.), driving their implementation.

+ Ensures that supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.

+ Works within a cross functional team supporting the Quality organization by managing and driving to closure of their activities and schedules.

+ Drive APQP tool adoption.

+ Travel to manufacturing sites to assist in quality CI events

+ Running and driving regular meetings with the Quality Leadership to understand status and open issues.

+ Perform supplier compliance audits and follow up on corrective action.

+ Collaborate with internal & external stakeholders to generate and present executive level presentations to leadership

+ Travel up to 50%, primarily to Mexicali, MX.

Qualifications You Must Have:

+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.

+ Experience with quality investigations

+ Experience in MS office suite creating PowerPoint presentations

Qualifications We Prefer:

+ Working experience of Quality and Continuous Improvement tools

+ Experience communicating and making presentations to senior level leadership.

+ Familiar with AS9100 requirements

+ Experience with RCCA’s (Root Cause Corrective Action)

+ Experience working and interacting on a manufacturing shop floor

+ Experience working in a central quality or manufacturing organization

+ Experience with SAP, EtQ, CATIA etc.

+ Experience with Lean, Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent or CORE

+ Project Engineering Experience

+ Experience in aerospace manufacturing

+ Experience with AS9145

+ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) Certification

+ AS9100 Lead auditor

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 224,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
