Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Model Shop Manager to lead our prototype and fabrication operations supporting Product Development and Engineering. This role requires deep expertise in machine shop practices, equipment, and processes, along with strong leadership and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will be a working manager who can balance technical execution with administrative responsibilities, including budget management and work order coordination.

Essential Functions:
_Operational Leadership:_
+ Oversee daily operations of the PD&E Model Shop, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality.
+ Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
+ Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching.
+ Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
+ Conduct regular inspections and training to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Manage shop budgets, including labor, materials, and capital expenditures.
+ Monitor costs and identify opportunities for savings and efficiency.
+ Plan, schedule, and prioritize work orders to meet project timelines.
_Technical Expertise:_
+ Apply advanced knowledge of machining, fabrication, and prototyping techniques.
+ Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to produce high-quality parts and assemblies.
+ Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to support prototype builds.
+ Recommend process improvements and tooling upgrades.
Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
Required Qualifications:
+ Proven experience, 10+ years, in a machine shop or model shop environment, with people leadership responsibilities.
+ Strong knowledge of machining processes, CNC equipment, manual tools, and fabrication techniques.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
+ Experience managing budgets, work orders, and shop operations.
+ Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
+ Proficiency in shop management software and Microsoft Office tools.
+ Journeyman’s Machinist Card or Equivalent
The anticipated pay range for this position is $84,500 - $136,100 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus program. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
