Laboratory Technician – Chemistry
**Location:** Durham, NC
**Pay:** $23–$27/hour
**Shift:** Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM
**Employment Type:** Temp-to-Hire
**Kelly Science is seeking a Laboratory Technician** for a growing company in the Durham area. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on chemistry lab experience who are excited to contribute to product development, quality control, and analytical testing in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform chemical extractions, distillations, separations, and related laboratory techniques using equipment such as rotary evaporators, chromatography columns, and other analytical tools.
+ Conduct quality control testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using instruments such as pH meters, Karl Fischer titrators, density meters, refractometers, and gas chromatographs (GC).
+ Support method development and troubleshooting for GC analysis.
+ Assist in scaling up new product formulations from development through pilot trials and production.
+ Prepare sample blends for customers, internal leads, and third-party laboratories.
+ Write and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and product specifications.
+ Collaborate with R&D to develop or modify formulations to match desired product profiles or flavor targets.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
+ Minimum of **2 years of GMP laboratory experience** required; experience in **food, beverage, or ingredient testing** is highly desirable.
+ 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a chemistry-based laboratory.
+ Prior experience with chemical separations, extractions, and distillations strongly preferred.
+ Must be self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently in a deadline-driven environment.
