    About the Role

    The Port Authority’s Procurement Department is looking for a New Jersey Zone Warehouse Operations Supervisor!

     

    Reporting to the Logistics Operations Supervisor responsible for providing logistical and operational oversight and directing all facility warehouse locations, your primary responsibilities will be to oversee the day-to-day operation of EWR and GWB warehouses.

     

    This includes supervising, training, and providing guidance to senior stockkeepers at those facility warehouse locations and maintaining the inventory accuracy of assigned warehouses. You will oversee the scheduling of staff across two shifts between assigned warehouses, execute around the clock coverage during emergencies, conduct monthly cycle inventories, and 100% inventories.

     

    This role also serves as New Jersey Airports Emergency Services Commodity Officer and is responsible for overseeing the operation of the New Jersey Zone Emergency Warehouse used to supply and distribute material and equipment to both internal Agency Facilities and external jurisdictions in emergencies, (natural or man-made). This position is fully autonomous to manage the real-time logistical response to emergencies and disasters, including weekends and around the clock coverage.

     

    The NJ Zone Warehouse Operations Supervisor is also responsible for managing the supply, distribution and logistics of material for major Capital Projects as a part of a comprehensive Port Authority program of airport infrastructure improvements. This includes ensuring construction deadlines are met by having required material on hand and staged at Port Authority warehouses to correspond with the work being performed during the different stages of the project.

     

    You will be required to respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, during an Emergency/Snow operation and must be available to change schedule to oversee the night shift (12:00 PM – 8 PM). You may be required to work in any of the 5 warehouses that are located in both New York and New Jersey.

    Responsibilities

    + Review senior stockkeepers daily activities including receiving, issuing, and storing of stock items, as well as reviewing all associated documents related to the procurement of request materials by all Facilities.

    + Classify new and existing stock items via SAP computer system, ordering/transferring materials between warehouses and setting inventory min/max values.

    + Reduce inventory values by removing obsolete and discontinued materials.

    + Work directly with the Inventory Control Group, Buyers and Vendors, to ensure quality control is maintained ensuring customer needs are met.

    + Work directly with supervisors of all departments to procure material quickly and accurately.

    + Responsible for the protection and security of Emergency Warehouse assets, ensuring proper maintenance, accountability, and a high-level of readiness of equipment.

    + Facilitate emergency requests and deploying equipment such as generators, light towers, pumps, and heaters from the Emergency Warehouses.

    + Various administrative activities (daily sign-in sheets, expediting reports, usage reports, property disposition reports and inventory control logs).

    + Ensure that all airport identification badges are current and accurate.

    + Serve as issuing officer of multi-airport ID's as well as standard airport ID's.

    + Participate in yearly training to learn updated FAA rules and regulations.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for the position:

    + Minimum of two (2) years maintenance experience at the semi-skilled level of General Maintainer, Senior Stockkeeper, Trades Helper, or its equivalent or above.

    + Must possess a valid driver’s license.

    + The successful candidate must be able to pass a fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check as mandated by 49 CFR 1542 and will be required to obtain and maintain an airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) credential with Airfield Driving and Escort Privileges. SIDA access and airfield driving and escort privileges require SIDA training and successful completion of a SIDA test, and maintaining a valid driver’s license.

    Desired Qualifications

    Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

    + Working knowledge of Inventory Management functions in SAP or other Inventory Management Systems.

    + Ability to provide first line supervision to senior stockkeepers and handle diverse and complex assignments concurrently.

    + Knowledge of automotive and maintenance materials.

    + Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.

    + Knowledge of material handling devices and equipment.

    + Customer service experience.

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    + Able to work on numerous projects concurrently and prioritize workload.

    + Knowledge/experience with the Port Authority or government procurement processes.

    + Prior knowledge/experience in logistics and supply chain management.

    + Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook software programs.

     

    Selection Process
