Job Summary and Qualifications

A professional nurse, graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with specific education and training in surveillance, prevention, and control of infections. Knowledge of the Epidemiology of infections and chronic diseases, microbiology, sterilization, disinfection, and disinfection process. Knows nursing practice and is familiar with patient care products and procedures. Teaching capabilities to conduct adult education principles, employee orientation, and update in principles of infection control. Ability to communicate with all levels of staff, community agencies, and personnel members of outside sources. Member of APIC Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology

What you will do in this position:

+ Determines priority on patient care and completes work within appropriate time frame.

+ Delegates work appropriately to job classification with clear concise directions.

+ Ensures accuracy and completeness of work performed.

+ Follows hospital policy and procedure in performing job functions, skills and tasks.

+ Willing to adjust personal schedule in cases of workload fluctuations or other departmental needs.

+ When assigned work is complete, it seeks additional tasks to be done.

+ Perform well in stress and emergency situations, demonstrating effective coping skills.

+ Follows through with assignments and informs supervisor if unable to complete task.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required

+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing or health-related field preferred

+ 1+ years' experience in a clinical setting preferred

+ 1+ years' experience in Infection Control preferred

+ 1+ years' experience in a leadership role preferred

+ Certification in Infection Control within 2 years

+ Basic Life Support (BLS)
