    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The RN Occupational Health is to independently oversee the facility’s Employee Health and Workers Compensation programs. The RN coordinates employee physical assessments, employee health files and the annual influenza immunization program. The RN assures that any required annual testing is completed for all employees. The RN will coordinate and partner with the facility Safety and Security Officer to ensure the safety and well-being of all patients, employees, physicians, and visitors, as well as the assets of the facility.

     

    + Organizes and manages work responsibilities independently. Leads improvement teams and chairs functional meetings. Communicates with and educates different healthcare audiences.

    + Chairs safety meetings which includes directors and staff. Ensures productive meetings are well managed. Attends staff meetings and other meetings. Competently and succinctly presents safety education and training. Provides thorough reports to EOC and Safety Committee.

    + Manages the HCA Premium Credit program. Seeks a 100% compliance with the annual requirements of the program.

    + Manages the Employee Health Program, which includes files, recordkeeping, and databases. Coordinates on site health services for employees. Manages, includes but not limited to, drug screens, health screens, immunizations, and fit testing.

    + Responsible for injury management and Workers Compensation, to include but not limited to, Investigates work injuries; ensures injury related paperwork is completed thoroughly and within established time limits; works with claims management organization to process workers compensation claims and provide other related information; inputs data for tracking and monitoring of injuries and conducts case management functions on employee injuries as appropriate.

    + Coordinates and collaborates with Human Resources and the RN Infection Control in the Employee Health and Workers Compensation programs. Responsible for managing Medi track software system and/or other databases and files as needed.

    + Coordinates return to work activities as requested. Ensures proper paperwork and signatures are obtained for ongoing claims/case management. Works with occupational medicine physicians to ensure coordinated thorough review of patient status and job requirements to ensure appropriate, safe return-to-work timeline within established policies and procedures.

    + Responsible for all reporting requirements. Produces timely and accurate reports on work injuries. Ensures compliance with OSHA injury reporting requirements. Supports Quality Management Department with work injury data/reports. Receives and sends employee immunization records. Maintain all employee health files. Assures accurate filing or data entry in a timely manner.

    + Conducts the post-offer pre-employment physical on newly hired employees in a way that obtains pertinent information that will determine the individual’s ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

    + Provides new orientation training and education on lifting/transfer equipment and/or any employee safety issue and policy for new employee orientation and/or all staff.

    + Monitors compliance and evaluates the objectives, scope, performance, and effectiveness of the Safety Management Program.

    + Responsible for the annual influenza immunization program each fall. Seeks collaboration with other staff to assure management of this responsibility. Seeks a goal of close to 100% participation for the hospital staff and physicians.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Current Idaho RN license; compact accepted, must obtain Idaho RN license within 90 days of date of hire

    + Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Occupational Health or related field preferred.

    + Three+ years occupation health experience preferred.

    + Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support

    + Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred
