How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
This strategic leader will be responsible for system-wide Onboard Service (OBS) program management and execution of special programs across the network worth ~$120M annually. These programs will vary from Continuous Improvement, Lean methodology, process efficiencies, operational support and guidance, resource planning/optimization, cost savings initiatives, data analysis, and driving productivity.
The Process Engineering Specialist will be expected to design and facilitate roll outs for catering vendors and OBS leaders for various process improvements and overall OBS initiatives. This position requires program management and change management skills to ensure successful completion of each initiative. This leader will be expected to become an expert in internal programs such as IFX, GP4, and O2P. They will develop systems of tracking and compliance of project plans. They will also be expected to engage with all OBS and In-Flight Services (IFS) leaders to implement continuous improvement and cost savings ranging from $50-100M annually.
The team coordinates with leadership from multiple Business Units across OBS, Finance, and IFS, including Directors, Managing Directors, and Vice President levels. Responsible for interfacing with catering operations local management, vendors, Finance, Information Technology, Flight Crew, and Airport Customer Service on strategic programs. The Process Engineering Specialist will also be responsible for developing and presenting strategic business cases, ROI justifications, and delivering projects on time / under budget. In some cases, they will be responsible for testing content and usability, and partnering with Delta Technology and other parties to troubleshoot any issues.
Summary of Responsibilities
+ Responsible for strategic planning and Project Management for OBS projects and initiatives.
+ Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and drive process and specification modifications to gain efficiencies and reduce cost.
+ Build presentations and one-pagers to summarize and present project initiatives, business cases, ROIs, new initiative proposals, process/operations and cost impact analysis, and overall project presentation materials.
+ Develop reporting and dashboards for station performance, financial savings, attrition, and other meaningful performance factors. Capture and monitor variance to target and recovery planning.
+ Drive accountability and escalate performance degradation in a timely manner.
+ Locate and extract data from a variety of sources for use in analysis.
+ Work to develop improvements to the framework and methodology of the Resource Planning model and application. Serve as a SME for Resource Planning.
+ Focus on transformational changes and approaches to maximize impact of process enhancements.
+ Facilitate Lean workshops and discussions with operational teams, leaders, and business partners to identify areas of opportunity, reduce waste, and incorporate process improvements from a productivity, financial, and safety perspective.
+ Influence change without authority internally and externally to drive improvement and to achieve desired operational changes for internal and external customers.
+ Drive solution-based recommendations and improvements to ensure integrity and success of the catering operation and its processes.
+ Interpret and report performance metrics to key stakeholders internally and externally to drive accountability and escalate performance degradation in a timely manner.
+ Oversee process for ensuring compliance of new launches, specification changes, and build process/assembly changes.
+ Responsible for technical support, training, and will serve as ongoing Subject Matter Expert of OBS systems and tools.
+ Support the OBS division, encompassing but not limited to: Food Safety, Ramp Safety/Security, Daily reporting, Audits, Dispatch, and Provisioning Technology.
+ Maintain strict confidentiality of all information, including but not limited to data, contracts, internal discussions, ideas, theories, and proposals.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
+ BS degree or equivalent work experience required.
+ A minimum of 7 years work experience including process engineering, program management, business case development, and change management is preferred.
+ Analytical, process-driven, solution-oriented, multi-task capable, and demonstrated ability to work well with others in a fast-paced time-sensitive environment.
+ Sound organizational and planning skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to make intelligent business decisions.
+ Highly proficient computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are required.
+ Strong analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and project management experience.
+ Thrive in a fast-paced, high visibility environment where accuracy of work product is paramount.
+ Schedule flexibility to support quick-turn deadlines and time sensitive requests aligning with operational needs.
+ Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with management and employees at all levels.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
+ BS degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar degree.
+ Experience with automation, facility design, and manufacturing processes and equipment at large production plants and high-volume assembly operations.
+ Familiarization with CAD drawings, cut sheets, construction drawings, and layouts.
+ Knowledge of Theory of Constraints, Design for Manufacturing, and Just In Time methodologies.
+ Certification and relevant work experience in Lean Continuous Improvement.
+ Provide sample work product and robust references upon request.
