Human Resources Generalist
POSITION DETAILS
Reporting directly to the Human Resources Director, the HR Generalist will be responsible for the management and implementation of the E-Verify system for all new and existing employees, and assist with the facilitation of the annual compliance training for the university, and other HR procedures. Along with the CUNY Title Overview, duties for the position include but are not limited to:
• Organize, research, and implement the E-Verify system, and serve as the program administrator to ensure compliance and proper usage.
• Support ongoing I-9 compliance by reviewing existing forms, removing inactive records, and retaining those that must be archived according to federal guidelines.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment verification laws and advise relevant staff on compliance requirements.
• Develop and facilitate training, and/ or guidance materials for hiring managers and HR staff on E-Verify and I-9 procedures and other HR related topics
• Assist with developing and maintaining document retention policies related to employment eligibility records.
• Serve as a point of contact for internal and external audits related to employment eligibility verification.
• Manages applicable tracking spreadsheets and reports to ensure all data is up-to-date and easily accessible for HR Staff
• Coordinate and facilitate mandatory annual compliance trainings for the campus such Workplace Violence Prevention, Sexual Harassment (ESPARC) Gender Based Violence Training (GVBT), and Cybersecurity
• Maintain and track up to date information of compliance training completions, maintaining constant communication with the campus at large of updates and responding to all inquiries
• Ensure the organization remains complaint with federal, state and institutional policies, and fosters a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace
• Conduct online and in person training sessions to ensure the campus remain compliant with state, city, federal and university requirements
• Assess training effectiveness and recommend improvements as needed
• Perform data entry, reconcile audit reports and administer Human Capital Management (HCM) in CUNYFirst
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters’ degree in Human Resources or related field of study
- Prior training/ facilitation experience preferred
- 2-3 years of Human Resources experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

- Oversees two or more human resources functions for an employee group, such as, but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, employee relations, appointment administration, compensation, human resource information systems (HRIS), training and development, benefits, and/or administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensures human resources functions, programs, and actions are in compliance with university rules and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, employment laws, and college policies and procedures.
- Interprets and provides professional counsel and advice to employees and managers on HR programs and policies, CUNY rules, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable employment laws. Researches and resolves multifaceted human resources issues.
- Recommends new approaches, best practices, policies, and systems to improve office efficiency and services provided.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

$86,741 - $ 102,017, Salary commensurate with education and experience.
