    Job Description

    The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision coordinates the planning, development and implementation of assigned programs.

     

    The Program Coordinator I, is a non-sworn (civilian) staff member within the Office of Victim Services and Community Affairs of the Professional Standards Section of the A&M-SA Police Department, reporting a supervisory Sergeant or designated member of the Police Command Staff. Salary: $18.43/hour | $38,334.40 annually

    Responsibilities:

    General Duties:

    + Plans and implements program events such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings and workshops.

    + May assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events.

    + Responds to inquiries regarding program offerings.

    + Coordinates program communications and marketing.

    + Compiles program statistics.

    + May develop and update training materials and deliver training sessions.

    + Maintains program records and databases.

    + May assists in identifying funding opportunities.

    + Plans and implements programs and assists in their evaluation.

    + May supervise program staff.

    Federal Clery Act Compliance:

    + Serves as a Campus Security Authority.

    + Assists in maintaining Clery Act Compliance Proof Files and Federal records Retention Requirements.

    + Member of the administrative support team providing oversight of the Department’s Clery Act compliance efforts.

    Victim Services:

    + As secondary victim services specialist, attain credentials through National Organization of Victim Advocacy (NOVA) as a victim services professional, and maintains continuing education requirements.

    + Reviews daily departmental criminal incident reports and initiates contact with crime victims by telephone, correspondence, and/or in-person contact.

    + Provides transportation; accompanies victims to court/medical appointments; completes paperwork for victims to access services; meets with other agencies to obtain adjunct services.

    + Assists and provides ongoing support to victims and law enforcement officers; provides victim advocacy and follow-up services.

    + Educates victims regarding Notice of Rights and Options (NORO) and the Crime Victims' Compensation Act; assists with the submittal of related applications; monitors progress of application from initiation to receipt of benefits.

    Community Affairs:

    + Staff Information and crime prevention awareness tabling and events.

    + Maintain Police Department web pages and social media accounts.

    + Provide administrative support for the student-based Law Enforcement Exploring program.

    + Provide administrative support for both the student-volunteer and employee-based Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Programs.

    + Coordinate the Citizens Police Academy (CPA) and Volunteers In Policing (VIP) programs.

    + Perform Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) assessments and submit related reports.

    + May receive instructor certification(s) and serve as an instructor for community education programs.

    Support Services:

    + May serve as a primary or secondary property custodian to maintain evidentiary and safekeeping property in accordance with accreditation standards and agency procedures.

    + Examines and completes storage of property according to established standards; ensuring accuracy in property submissions.

    + Participates in inventory and inspection of the property room and prepares property for disposal as appropriate.

    + Preserves evidence by counting cash, jewelry and guns, weighing drugs and maintaining up-to-date property lists and preparing related reports.

    + Respond to crime scenes, evaluates and conducts searches for evidence using related crime scene investigation disciplines.

    + Documents crime scenes using photography, measurements, diagrams and other techniques used to accurately record the dimensions, etc. of a scene

    + If not serving a property custodian, may receive related training and assigned to conduct inspections and inventories of the evidence and property rooms with submission of related reports to the Professional Standards Section.

    Police Agency Accreditation and State Licensing:

    + Provides support for the program requirements related to accreditation.

    + Monitors compliance with accreditation standards and documents/maintains standards and statuses for proof files.

    + May receive instructor certification(s) and serve as an instructor for in-service training of licensed personnel.

    Required Education and Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field.

    + Two (2) years of related experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

    + Verbal and written communication skills.

    + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

    + Must possess a valid Texas driver license; or be able to obtain.

    + Must be able to pass a comprehensive law enforcement agency preemployment background investigation and drug screening.
