Job Description
Job Summary
The Outreach Coordinator for TAMIU Camp Program, under general supervision, promotes and facilitates the enrollment of students by working with community agencies and public schools. Provides exceptional customer service to prospective and current students, the University, and the community in all aspects work performed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Promotes the program by participating in recruiting activities such as high schools and community agency visits, and other programs to encourage enrollment.
+ Assists in instruction and provision of program services.
+ Recruits prospective students ensuring proper public relations and disseminates information to prospective students, parents, counselors, and referral agents.
+ Schedules appointments with students, counselors, parents, and referral agents and provides counseling and assistance on program services and related matters.
+ Monitors applications to determine acceptance into program.
+ Completes and files reports of prospective participants, ensuring final completion of appropriate numbers of applicant files.
+ Develops a waiting list of accepted participants, conducts assessments of program participants, and develops actions plans based on results.
+ Assists with visitation programs and information forms for counselors and helps acquire financial aid and registration for GED graduates going into higher education and applicants who wish to enroll.
+ Helps GED graduates with job placement and conducts follow-ups at 30, 60, and 90 day cycles as required by the program.

Additional Responsibilities
+ Assist the Program Director in meeting TAMIU CAMP Goals and Objectives.
+ Provide support to the TAMIU CAMP Program.
+ Establish and maintain a network of school administrators for outreach initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
+ Education – Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or related field.
+ Experience – Two years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
+ Experience working with high school students, student services, student activities, student outreach, recruitment, public relations, or related area.
+ Experience working with students from farmworker families:
+ Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
+ Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to:
+ Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of website development/maintenance.

Other Requirements
+ This position is a grant funded position and subject to end June 30, 2029.
+ Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.
+ Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
+ Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
+ Travel will be required in the South Texas Border/Region including but not limited to the Rio Grande Valley
