Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
Plan and conduct research independently.
Work collaboratively and effectively to promote teamwork.
Organize and manage projects
Supervise and mentor research personnel including graduate and undergraduate students
Independently prepare research proposals
Complete project milestones.
Assist in developing project reports, communicating key findings both internally across teams and externally to project sponsors.
Work in partnership with colleagues within the Departmental community and perform duties in support of the mission and goals of the Department and the College.
Generate genomics data for projects involving genome and transcriptome sequencing related to crop improvement projects.
Publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
Assist in developing project reports, communicating key findings both internally across teams and externally to project sponsors.
Other duties as required.
Required education and experience:
A doctoral degree in plant sciences or an allied discipline with a proven track record in the areas of molecular biology, genomics, transcriptomics, and plant biotechnology.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
Strong publication track record or a pipeline of high-quality publications or dissertation work, in the areas of molecular biology, genomics and transcriptomics, biotechnology, and data and statistical analysis.
Knowledge and experience with data and statistical analysis.
Experience and expertise with software such as CLC Genomics, Blast2GO, SnapGene, and Smartsheet, or similar software.
Ability to code
Flexibility in developing or adapting new workflows
