    Job Description

    The Program Specialist serves as a key role supporting both the Texas A&M Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management (RWFM) and the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute (NRI). This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to strengthen engagement with internal and external stakeholders, while advancing fundraising and donor relations. The Program Specialist will oversee fundraising strategies, special initiatives, and external relations to effectively communicate the mission, achievements, and impact of both RWFM and NRI.

    Responsibilities

    Manage the external board of directors, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and collaboration.

     

    Coordinate and produce annual reports for RWFM and NRI.

     

    Oversee donor stewardship and tracking, including the creation and implementation of donor stewardship plans.

     

    Support prospect discovery and tracking, collaborating with leadership and the Texas A&M Foundation.

     

    Assist with the planning and execution of annual donor engagement events and related initiatives.

     

    Develop and implement strategies and projects to strengthen engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, students, donors, industry partners, and agency collaborators.

     

    Prepare targeted donor reports in partnership with the Texas A&M Foundation.

     

    Oversee internal events and communications for RWFM and NRI, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

     

    Manage projects supported by fundraising and foundation grants, ensuring deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements are met.

     

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Education and Experience

    + Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    + Master’s degree and 4+ years of related work experience; background in the agricultural, natural resources, or natural sciences sectors.

    + Experience in fundraising or development.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

    + Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.

    + Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

    + Capacity to develop and execute strategic plans that align with organizational goals.

    + Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively engage donors, faculty, students, and external partners.

    + Excellent communication and project management skills.

    + Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.

    Position Type

    Full-time, professional staff position with responsibilities across both RWFM and NRI. This is a grant funded position.

     

    Soft Funding Clause Included: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds in the future.
