Lab Operations Support Associate

The position of Lab Operations Support Associate is primarily responsible for providing in-house calibration support in R&D, as well as performing routine lab management duties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting equipment calibration and maintenance, perform in-house calibrations on equipment, and document and keep records of calibration certificates and data sheets per cGMP guidelines. In addition, the candidate will interact with outside vendors to manage equipment sent off-site for repair and calibration, negotiate service contracts, co-ordinate service and PM scheduling and calls, as well as support R&D purchase of new equipment. Finally, the candidate will act as a member of the lab support group to perform routine lab operational duties such as ordering and stocking consumables, interacting with lab users, maintenance of lab spaces, and other duties as required.
This is a fully onsite role in San Diego, CA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Monitors and maintains integrity of basic instrument calibrations, including maintenance and calibration paperwork.
+ Conducts inspection, testing and repair activities of balances, pipettes, and other basic scientific equipment, schedules equipment service with vendors and end users.
+ Communicates equipment issues to service providers, communicates equipment status to end users, and follows detailed written procedures
+ Maintains the calibration and preventive maintenance database in Agile.
+ Conducts in monthly equipment status review.
+ With assistance, can diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment problems.
+ Helps to relocate and/or install equipment as necessary.
+ Practice and demonstrate awareness of applicable safety guidelines and standards.
+ Participates in Lab Support continuous improvement projects.
+ Receives and completes internal work requests.
+ Assists with Lab Support activities as needed, including ordering, stocking of consumables and other duties as required.
Physical Demands
+ Lifting/moving and carrying products weighing up to 40 pounds.
+ Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration and/or moderate noise levels.
+ Exposure to hazardous chemicals or other materials.
+ Safety Shoes with Impact and Compression Protection Must be worn.
+ Exposure to blood.
+ Work in a Biosafety Level 2 lab environment
Qualifications
+ AA degree or HS and 3+ years related experience.
+ BA/BS and 0-2 years related experience.
+ ASQ Calibration Technician Certification a plus.
Skills
+ Working knowledge of calibration standards and procedures.
+ Ability to effectively work with cross functional departments within the company.
+ Highly organized with excellent time management and detail orientation skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
+ Good understanding of lab equipment, including basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
+ Excellent interpersonal communication skill level required.
+ Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management, including resolving laboratory related issues.
+ Solid computer skills – Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Agile, Oracle.
+ Solid verbal and written communication skills.
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Knowledge of cGMP guidelines such as 21 CFR Part 820 and other industry regulations pertaining to calibration (e.g., ISO 17025).
The annualized base salary range for this hourly role is $40,300 - $60,400 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
