Your role
Reporting to the Director of Quality,
JOB SUMMARY:
The Metrology Technician will be responsible for performing and documenting calibrations for critical manufacturing, environmental, and packaging instruments. This position requires proficiency in the calibration of various instruments such as temperature, humidity, weight, flow, speed, conductivity, and pressure. The technician will work closely with manufacturing and packaging teams to schedule and complete calibrations using calibration software, instruments, and hand tools. The role assists with the creation of new calibration methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and managing the calibration database in compliance with regulatory requirements. This position also includes involvement in continuous improvement projects, the purchase and qualification of new instruments, and the maintenance of calibration software to meet operational needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Calibrated Instruments (65%)
•Schedules Calibrations with Mfg., Pkg. and other internal customers using calibration software.
•Performs calibrations on critical manufacturing, environmental, and packaging instruments.
•Performs hands on Calibrations on in-house equipment. Using calibration software, calibration instruments, calibration Standards, hand tools, ladders, and power moving equipment.
•Reviews and signs other calibration documentation.
Calibration Guidance & Advice (20%)
•Assists with creation of new Calibration method ‘s and SOP’s.
Process Improvements (5%)
•Assists in the completion of improvement projects or the purchase of new instruments.
Calibration SOP’s (5%)
•Assists with updates and queries computer database for critical instruments.
Calibration Application Available, Accessible, and Functions According to Intended Use and Compliance Requirements (5%)
•Assists with application procedures and system configuration documents.
•Assists with application change control activities.
•Assists with application Refresh/Upgrade lifecycle activities
•Assists with applications meet business and user requirements

Your profile
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree in engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation or related field
3+ years’ work experience in instrument calibrations.
Experience with metrology software a plus.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
Identify system needs and create solutions.
Understanding of electronics and their use in calibrating instruments.
Understanding and communicating industry applications for new instrumentation needs.
Ability to perform instrument adjustments, repairs and programming.
Ability to perform various types of instrument calibrations: temperature, humidity, weight, flow, speed, conductivity, and pressure.
Understanding and communicating industry applications for new instrumentation needs.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations necessary to identify calibration parameters.
Computer Skills:
Basic Outlook skills as evidenced by creating and sending messages, working with address books, message handling, creating and using personal folders, scheduling appointments, working with meeting requests and managing tasks.
Basic Microsoft Word skills as evidenced by the ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts; as well as check spelling, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open and organize electronic files.
Basic Data Entry for various Calibration Software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENT:
Climb ladders, standing/walking 80% of time, sitting 20 % of time.
Moderate lifting required.
Controlled environment with a moderate amount of noise.
Must wear personal protective equipment.
Must be able to work overtime as needed.
Compensation range
30.00 - 34.00 USD
*The referenced compensation range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
