    BECOMING INDEPENDENT JOB DESCRIPTION

    POSITION :   Resource Development Specialist

     

    PROGRAM :  Resource Development

     

    POSITION DESCRIPTION :   Are you an organized self-starter who can handle multiple priorities and transition seamlessly between responsibilities? Do you thrive in a detail-driven environment? If so, the Resource Development Specialist position might be for you!

     

    In this role, you’ll provide administrative, clerical, and project management support to BI’s Resource Development team. Key responsibilities include donor database management, gift processing, donor acknowledgment, grant coordination, and event-related administrative and logistical support.

     

    As a critical member of the development team, the ideal candidate understands that success is in the details and is eager to learn and grow within a dynamic, mission-driven nonprofit environment.

     

    SALARY: $24-$29/hr. DOE

     

    STATUS: M-F Full-Time; Non-Exempt. Occasional weekends and evenings.

    CRITICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Possesses the professional skills and abilities specific to the technical aspects of the position.

     

    Administrative Support

     

    + Manage the donor management system, ensuring consistent and accurate data entry, gift reporting, and donor acknowledgment.

    + Stewardship of BI’s monthly giving program.

    + Basic administrative duties including data entry, electronic file management, and drafting correspondence.

     

    Grant Support

     

    + Assist the Resource Development Manager with foundation research and prospecting.

    + Maintain grant deadlines and application records within grant management software.

     

    Community Engagement Support

     

    + Represent Becoming Independent at community and public relations events.

     

    Events and Communications Support

     

    + Work and support fundraising events (weekends & evenings) and community events.

    + Solicit event auction donations and sponsorships.

    + Communicate with event vendors, sponsors, and donors.

    + Create and execute social media strategies.

    + Track and report results of communication campaigns.

     

    Social Enterprise Support - The Backdrop

     

    + Assist with customer support for The Backdrop.

    + Maintain and update event tracking systems.

    + Maintain and update communication lists.

    + Create and maintain administrative, rental, and billing forms.

    + Assist with event-related tasks.

    + Work The Backdrop events when needed, providing on-site customer support - possible weekends and evenings.

    + Attend industry-related events.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

    + Bachelor's degree is preferred.

    + Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Mail, Calendar, Slides, and Drive).

    + Knowledge of current office practices, including correspondence, filing, and office equipment operation.

    Physical Requirements:

    + Ability to frequently bend, squat, turn, and lift without injury.

    + Ability to operate a vehicle during working hours.

    + Ability to sit, walk, and stand for prolonged periods.

    + Ability to assist individuals in wheelchairs and provide personal care (including restroom and feeding assistance).

    + Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

    + Must successfully complete a pre-employment Functional Capacity Evaluation with no restrictions that cannot be reasonably accommodated without undue hardship.

    Other Requirements :

    + Reside within Sonoma County.

    + Valid California driver’s license.

    + Insured and dependable vehicle that can successfully pass BI’s vehicle inspection.

    + Current First Aid and CPR certification (training will be provided).

    + Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.

    + Criminal Record Clearance.
