The Talent Development team in Amazonian Manager eXperiences enhances the professional growth and effectiveness of all Amazonians. Our mission is to deliver the right learning experiences to the right people at the right time, and to effectively support Amazon's culture of continuous improvement and leadership development. Our team owns manager experiences, from leveraging advanced technologies like Addie, our GenAI-powered authoring tool, to content delivery through the Talent Development Ecosystem (TDE), which includes multi-modal delivery channels (e.g. A to Z profile, Slack, and A to Z tasks) and recommendation engines. We support all Amazonians’ career paths from onboarding (Embark) through mentoring (AMP) and career growth (Your Growth).
We seek a Sr. Learning Scientist with a unique blend of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, and learning science. If you've lead and built multiple complex learning programs for large-scale audiences, this role may be for you.
Key job responsibilities
- Create and support pan-Amazon manager and IC curriculum based on persona, context, and best Amazonian practices.
- Design and deliver learning content in a variety of modalities: tips, modules, courses, ILT templates, and emerging GenAI tools.
- Develop experiments and research plans to test learning solutions.
- Collaborate with product teams to build learning science-based content delivery channels, especially in determining push recommendations.
- Support partner teams to build HR-focused learning content.
- Work backward from the business problem and internal customer to design learning solutions.
- Develop online learning activities that align with learning outcomes, apply research-based learning principles, and inform learner progress and success in online learning environments.
- Collaborate with product developers on the features and functions needed to deliver learning solutions.
- Maintain knowledge of new developments in GenAI, learning science, learning design, and learning analytics through continuous research.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-tech company, or experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines
- Master’s or Ph.D. in learning design, learning science, instructional design, educational psychology, or similar field.
- 5+ years’ experience in designing online instructional activities to address complex business problems for adult learners.
- 3+ years’ experience using quantitative and/or qualitative research methods to support learning solutions.
- Experience working with subject matter experts and program stakeholders to design curriculum and skills ontologies.
- Deep understanding of GenAI technologies and their applications to learning design.
- Experience with online course authoring technologies.
- Strong experience applying concepts of learning science, educational psychology, and instructional design principles to learning solutions.
- Experience working in a cross-functional team, especially with software engineers.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years’ experience designing online instructional activities to address complex business problems for adult learners.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate difficult concepts and processes using clear and simple language and visuals.
- Prior experience supporting onboarding and career growth programs.
- Prior experience designing learning solutions for people leaders.
- Prior experience creating and supporting skills ontologies and competency-based programs.
- Demonstrated consistent delivery on commitments with great organizational skills and exceptional follow through.
- Able to prioritize and reprioritize in a complex, fast-paced work environment.
- Innovative and proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise integrity and sound judgment in complex and ambiguous situations.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $215,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
