    The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW), Division of Public Health is recruiting for aHealth Program Managerto oversee the Idaho Oral Health Program. This position will be responsible for program administration and direction of the programs, including overall management, planning, evaluation, communication, coordination, grant/budgets and personnel supervision.

     

    This position requires some in-state and out of state travel to attend meetings, training events, and/or to provide support to local public health districts, contractors, subrecipients, and community partners.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

    + Plan, develop and implement the Idaho Oral Health Program goals and objectives.

    + Prepare and oversee federal grant applications, budgets, and reports.

    + Oversee the development of contracts and subgrants.

    + Seek opportunities for cooperation, collaboration, partnership, and integration with other department programs.

    + Ensure program quality, integrity, and compliance with state and federal program requirements.

    + Maximize use of program resources to support program quality and innovation.

    + Evaluate the impact of programs to improve the health status of targeted populations.

    + Translate program information and findings into user-friendly materials for providers, patients, and the public.

    + Provide public health expertise and technical assistance to community partners and the public.

    + Provide leadership and guidance when requested from external and internal partners.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must possess all the minimum and specialty minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum and specialty qualifications for this position. It is highly recommended to attach a one-page cover letter to your application to demonstrate how you meet the requirements below.

     

    + Considerable knowledge of health program needs assessment and program development, implementation, and evaluation. Typically requires completion of a Bachelor's degree, or higher, in health or a health science field such as public health, health education, nursing, environmental health, public health administration, or a related field, plus four years of related experience OR a Master's degree in a related field and two years of related experience OR at least eight years of full-time working experience directly in this field.

    + Experience developing and implementing or managing public health programs. Typically requires at least two years of experience developing and implementing public health program(s) OR one year of experience managing a public health program including developing a work plan of goals, objectives and activities, developing a program evaluation process and a program budget.

    + Experience coordinating health services or public health programs with various agencies and organizations. Typically requires a minimum of one year of experience coordinating health services or public health programs with various agencies and organizations.

    + Experience providing health program consultation to organizations and programs. Typically requires a minimum of one year of experience providing health program consultation to organizations and programs.

    + Experience evaluating health related educational materials. Typically requires a minimum of one year of experience evaluating health related educational materials.

    + Experience writing grant proposals. Typically requires a minimum of one year of experience writing grant proposals.

     

    Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

     

    + Good knowledge of oral health care industry.Typically gained by at least one year of oral health care experience or licensure as an oral health care professional.

    + Experience implementing public health practices and programs.Typically gained by at least one year of experience in a public health management role.

    + Experience managing budgets.Typically gained by at least one year of experience managing budgets to support programmatic activities.

    + Education.Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred, in Public Health, Environmental Health Science, or related field.

    + Experience managing grants or subgrants.Typically gained by at least two years of experience managing grants or subgrants with government, public and private healthcare agencies.
