Job Title: Project Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in daily operations. You will be responsible for managing 2-3 projects simultaneously, specializing in rough and finished carpentry, millwork, and metal studs. This year's workload includes numerous interior renovations for K-12 school districts and various commercial buildings, with project values ranging from $500K to $3 Million.
Responsibilities
+ Assist Project Managers in project documentation and reporting.
+ Handle RFIs, change orders, submittals, budgets, estimates, costs, and schedule adjustments.
+ Coordinate project scheduling, budgeting, and administrative tasks.
+ Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
+ Manage project change order creation and negotiation between Project Managers and Owners.
+ Facilitate project logistics such as meetings, conference rooms, and conference calls.
+ Log materials used, status updates on the job site, and order new materials as needed.
+ Learn and utilize tools such as Edge, PlanGrid, and Viewpoint.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years experience as a Project Engineer or similar role with a general contractor or subcontractor specializing in carpentry.
+ Experience with submittals and budget assistance.
+ Familiarity with commercial construction, viewpoint, and PlanGrid.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in carpentry or skilled trades.
+ Experience with millwork or woodworking.
+ Knowledge of construction software.
Work Environment
The work schedule starts at 7 AM, spanning 40-50 hours per week with no weekend work required. The role involves 85% office work and 15% field visits with the Project Manager. The team consists of just under 50 members, including a collaborative and modern office environment with the latest technology. Employees share office space with two other Project Managers, and the lobby is spacious with a view of the millwork shop. A kitchen with granite countertops and conference rooms are available for meetings.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CHESTERFIELD, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $34.00/hr.
