Role Overview: Sr Job Captain
The Sr Job Captain is a key technical leader in the architectural team, responsible for producing and coordinating construction documents and guiding projects from design through construction. This role requires strong experience in multifamily housing and advanced Revit skills to support Swenson’s growing portfolio of urban residential developments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of detailed construction documents using Revit
Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and internal teams to ensure design intent and constructability
Conduct code analysis and ensure compliance with California Building Codes
Manage BIM models and maintain quality control across documentation
Support construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and site coordination
Mentor junior staff and contribute to internal standards and process improvements
Collaborate with Project Architects and Project Managers to meet deadlines and project goals
Required Qualifications
Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from a NAAB-accredited program
8+ years of architectural experience, including leadership on CD sets
Proven experience with multifamily residential projects
Advanced proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows
Strong understanding of California Building Codes and permitting processes
Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills
Experience with mixed-use or commercial projects is a plus

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Architecture: Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), Master of Architecture (M.Arch), or a BA in Architecture.
Professional Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in architectural practice.
Licensure: Licensed architect or actively pursuing licensure (preferred but not mandatory).
Software Proficiency:
Skilled in Building Information Modeling (BIM); experience with ArchiCAD is ideal, though training can be provided.
Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and other related design and productivity tools.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Project Management: Able to manage and shift between multiple projects and tasks efficiently.
Creative Problem Solving: Demonstrates innovative thinking in resolving design challenges.
Team-Oriented Mindset: Self-driven and proactive, with a collaborative spirit and a positive attitude toward team dynamics.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
