Job Title: Research Billing Specialist
As a Research Billing Specialist, you will manage invoices and track payments from clinical trial sponsors for patient visits and other study-related costs as outlined in clinical trial budgets and contracts. You will perform payment reconciliation for clinical research, process payment requests for patient reimbursement and third-party vendors in accordance with policy, and serve as a financial resource for clinical site staff and research patients. Additionally, you will utilize CTMS or financial software to track clinical trial revenue and attend finance meetings, assisting other departments with patient account discrepancies.
Responsibilities
+ Invoice and track payments from clinical trial sponsors.
+ Perform payments reconciliation for clinical research.
+ Process payment requests for patient reimbursement and third-party vendors.
+ Serve as a financial resource for clinical site staff and research patients.
+ Utilize CTMS or financial software to track clinical trial revenue.
+ Attend finance meetings and assist other departments with patient account discrepancies.
+ Assist with preparation of reports requested by the Finance department.
+ Troubleshoot internal department billing processes.
+ Conduct annual billing training for research staff and as-needed for new hire orientation.
+ Provide cross-coverage with Research Billing compliance specialists.
+ Review budgets, reports, and transfer charges in hospital billing systems.
+ Prepare monthly reports capturing and applying research payments to aged accounts.
+ Maintain DSA forms and documentation for clinical patient accounts.
+ Resolve outstanding patient bills and disputes with the Finance department.
+ Develop and maintain tracking metrics for research finance.
+ Maintain strong communication with ancillary departments and outside vendors.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in clinical research and compliance.
+ Ability to navigate EPIC systems.
+ Experience with digital accounts for patients.
+ Knowledge of research and Medicare coverage analysis.
+ Organizational skills.
+ Experience with CTMS.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Sciences, or equivalent HS diploma.
+ 2 years of experience with billing/coding and/or financial business operations.
+ Experience with billing and collections processes.
Work Environment
The organization offers a hybrid work schedule after 90 days, providing flexibility thereafter. The position is part of an NCI-designated organization
Job Type & Location
This is a 12-month contract position based out of Hackensack, New Jersey.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.71 - $35.01/hr.
