Job Title: Roadway Designer

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated civil engineering designer for an immediate opening in our public works group with a focus on transportation and roadway projects. This position involves design, calculation, and plan preparation from concept design through bid drawings with opportunities for construction administration. Projects may include complex urban and rural roadways, streetscapes, intersection improvements and roundabouts, safety improvements, beautification projects, trails/shared use paths, and more.

Responsibilities

+ Support the design and development of transportation projects.

+ Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

+ Assist in performing geometric design, horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, and drainage design.

+ Conduct site visits and field investigations as needed to support design and construction activities.

+ Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects.

+ Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

+ Prepare technical reports, calculations, and documentation for project deliverables.

+ Participate in meetings with clients, agencies, and stakeholders.

+ Support permitting, utility coordination, and construction administration tasks.

+ Maintain project documentation and assist with project scheduling and budgeting.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and/or Civil 3D.

+ 1-5 years of experience in roadway/transportation design (e.g., roadway, highway, intersection improvements, roundabouts, trails/shared use paths).

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ EIT certification or the ability to obtain it in the near future is a plus.

+ Experience in bridge engineering is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily in-office with some flexibility to work from home when necessary. This position is not hybrid or remote.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
