Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description
We are seeking a dedicated Controls Engineer to assist with machine program updates, system and data collection, and hardware integrations for both existing and newly acquired products. This role involves traveling to San Diego, CA to collect machine data, upload data into systems, and review hardware for necessary updates. Additional projects include aligning current products and machines to optimize systems across all product lines and supporting new machines/products being built for clients.
Responsibilities
+ Develop, test, and deploy PLC/IPC control code across multiple platforms such as CODESYS and Windows-based industrial PCs.
+ Define and maintain programming standards, libraries, and version control practices, including documentation and code reviews.
+ Deliver custom software solutions for customer applications and support commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization at customer sites.
+ Integrate and maintain machine electrical components, vision/inspection systems, sensors, and motion.
+ Utilize SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical to ensure clean, thorough, and manufacturable designs.
+ Support and potentially lead portions of future acquisitions and technology transfers, including onsite knowledge capture and program hygiene.
+ Contribute to data collection and early machine learning use cases to improve equipment performance and marketability.
+ Draft functional specifications, risk assessments, test plans, and training materials while upholding safety standards, including laser safety practices.
Essential Skills
+ Strong PLC programming skills across vendors, with fluency in CODESYS and Windows-based industrial PCs.
+ Solid understanding of machine electrical components and controls integration.
+ Proficiency with SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical.
+ Familiarity with vision/inspection systems.
+ Mechanical aptitude with attention to design quality and completeness.
+ Ability to follow directions in an exacting and supportive manner.
+ Proficiency in reading and writing English.
+ Capability to function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
+ Experience with statistical analysis and manufacturing process capability work.
+ Exposure to lean manufacturing principles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is required.
+ 5+ years of hands-on controls experience in industrial automation.
+ Exposure to laser systems is strongly preferred.
+ Experience with Python is preferred, with support for upskilling available.
+ Experience in robot programming is preferred.
Work Environment
The position requires travel of over 50% during the initial six months, decreasing to approximately 20% ongoing, including potential international travel. The working schedule is Monday through Friday during standard business hours. Initial travel to San Diego, CA will be required to assist with a recent company acquisition. All travel expenses will be covered by the company.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $135000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
