Job Description: Senior Quality Engineer
The Senior Quality Engineer will lead quality initiatives for trailer systems including chassis, suspension, axles, brakes, and electrical components. This role drives continuous improvement through advanced quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and DOE. The successful candidate will support supplier development and ensure compliance with relevant standards. The engineer will be hands-on in root cause analysis, inspection support, and mentoring cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
+ Lead APQP activities by developing PFMEAs, control plans, and reviewing supplier PPAP submissions.
+ Conduct supplier audits and drive corrective actions using 8D and CAR methodologies.
+ Analyze quality data using MINITAB and statistical tools (SPC, ANOVA, MSA) to identify trends and implement preventive actions.
+ Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T for inspection and gage design; support fixture fabrication.
+ Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to contain and resolve quality issues.
+ Maintain internal/external quality KPIs, supplier scorecards, and risk assessments.
+ Mentor quality staff and lead problem-solving teams focused on defect reduction and process improvement.
+ Support production floor activities including inspection, containment, and resolution of non-conforming material.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in supplier quality, quality engineering, and quality assurance.
+ Proficiency in PPAP, root cause analysis, and audit processes.
+ Knowledge of APQP, corrective action plans, and quality management systems.
+ Familiarity with ISO 9001, PFMEA, and GD&T.
+ Experience with internal, customer, and supplier quality processes.
+ Cradle to grave product life cycle experience.
+ Program management experience.
+ Experience with new product launches and quality systems auditing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
+ 10+ years in manufacturing quality, preferably in trailer, automotive, or heavy industrial sectors.
+ ASQ certifications (CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, CQM) highly preferred.
+ Experience with IATF standards and QMS auditing.
+ Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
+ Proficient in ERP systems, MINITAB, and quality software tools.
+ Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
+ Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.75 - $73.08/hr.
