Job Title: Janitorial Worker

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Janitorial Worker to maintain cleanliness and aseptic conditions in the labor and delivery areas. This role involves cleaning rooms, interacting with nurses, and ensuring a tidy environment in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

+ Clean rooms throughout the night, focusing on labor and delivery areas.

+ Collaborate and communicate with nurses in the department.

+ Maintain cleanliness by vacuuming, dust mopping, making beds, and removing trash and linen.

+ Perform high dusting, wall and ceiling washing, and spot cleaning in rooms with patients.

+ Assist with discharge cleaning, including deep cleaning of floors, walls, and bathrooms.

+ Engage with patients and handle challenging situations calmly.

+ Use cleaning supplies following proper handling and mixing procedures.

+ Keep cleaning station, cart, closet, and equipment neat and organized.

+ Report equipment repairs to the supervisor.

+ Log activities during shifts and complete required paperwork.

+ Collect soiled linen and distribute clean linen.

+ Operate equipment such as mops, vacuums, brooms, and supply carts.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in housekeeping, cleaning, and janitorial services.

+ Ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical tasks.

+ Capability to push/pull 65 lbs, lift up to 50 lbs, and lift up to 20 lbs constantly.

+ Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending English.

+ Competence in physical activities such as pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crouching.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newton, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
