Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to maintain cleanliness and aseptic conditions in a hospital environment. This role involves working primarily in the labor and delivery areas, ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
Responsibilities
+ Clean rooms throughout the night in labor and delivery areas, interacting and working closely with nurses.
+ Maintain clean and aseptic conditions by vacuuming, scouring, dust mopping, high dusting, making beds, removing trash/linen, and washing walls and ceilings.
+ Utilize vacuum and cleaning materials effectively in daily tasks.
+ Perform daily spot cleaning while patients are present, including dust mopping, trash removal, bathroom cleaning, and cleaning high-touch areas.
+ Conduct discharge cleaning when patients vacate rooms, involving deep cleaning of floors, walls, bathrooms, and wiping down furniture.
+ Engage with patients while cleaning occupied rooms, handling interactions with care.
+ Use detergents, germicides, or other supplies following recommended handling and mixing procedures.
+ Maintain a clean and organized station, cart, closet, and equipment.
+ Report equipment repair needs to the Supervisor.
+ Log activities throughout work shift and complete required paperwork at the end of the shift.
+ Collect soiled linen and distribute clean linen.
+ Operate various equipment including mops, computers, supply carts, detergents, brooms, vacuums, telephones, pagers, and hand sweepers.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in housekeeping, cleaning, and customer service.
+ Ability to work in a hospital environment with patients.
+ Physical ability to be on feet all day, push/pull 65 lbs, lift up to 50 lbs, and lift up to 20 lbs constantly.
+ Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending English.
+ Capability to work in a physical position, including pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crouching.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in environmental service or janitorial duties is advantageous.
+ Ability to handle interactions with difficult patients professionally.

Work Environment
The role is based within a hospital setting, where you may encounter hazards such as chemicals, slippery floors, and step ladders, as well as atmospheric conditions like dust, odors, bodily fluids, and aerosols. Shifts are part-time on weekends only, with options for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts. Employees work one day per weekend with opportunities for a 40-hour workweek. The team is diverse, fostering a collaborative and culturally rich work environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DES MOINES, Iowa.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
