    Description

    We are seeking a Senior Cloud Security and Delivery SME to support a cybersecurity program in Washington, DC. This is a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension and potential conversion to a permanent role.

    Position Details

    + Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid – 1 day/week onsite)

    + Duration: 6 months (extension possible)

    + Clearance: Able to obtain a Public Trust

    + Work Schedule: Supporting a 24x7 operation

     

    Role Overview

     

    The SME will lead the design and implementation of security solutions for cloud-hosted environments using Zero Trust and defense-in-depth strategies. This includes conducting cloud application assessments, securing cloud architecture, and advising on emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, RPA, blockchain, and quantum computing.

    The candidate will serve in two capacities:

    + Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Senior Architect for current and future cloud deployments.

    + Deployment Manager for security capabilities and optimization.

     

    This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence 1 day per week to interface with the customer and stakeholders. The candidate will work closely with other workstreams and migration owners but will not have direct reports.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Provide strategic guidance and leadership for Zero Trust architecture

    + Develop and implement cloud security solutions aligned with Zero Trust principles

    + Design cloud security event visibility and telemetry

    + Oversee ICAM technologies and network segmentation

    + Incorporate OT/IoT security controls

    + Evaluate and deploy security tools across cloud environments

    + Lead architecture for SASE, CASB, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, and web application security

    Requirements

    Technical Requirements

    + Experience with multiple hyperscalers: Azure, AWS, Google Cloud (Oracle is a plus)

    + Hands-on experience designing security architectures for cloud and hybrid environments

    + Proven experience managing deployments of native cloud applications, including:

    + Tool configuration in mature cloud environments

    + Establishing secure cloud environments and roadmaps

    + Integrating native cloud applications with on-prem systems

    + Strong understanding of:

    + Zero Trust principles

    + Multi-tenant architecture

    + Security posture design

    + SASE, CASB, SIEM, EDR, and other security tools

     

    Candidate Profile Preferences

     

    + Government experience is not required; candidates from the private sector are encouraged to apply.

    + Must be comfortable working across varying levels of technical understanding and diplomatically navigating challenges.

    + Remote candidates are considered, but onsite presence 1 day per week is required and prioritized.

    + Looking for candidates with strong technical strengths in cybersecurity, especially in cloud security architecture.

    + Certifications in cloud platforms and security are valued, but strong domain knowledge and hands-on experience will outweigh a long list of certifications.
