    Job Description

    Position Purpose:

    Co-ops are full-time team members who are treated and valued as such! They are fully integrated into the Energy Markets and Sustainability Services team - working alongside everybody and being pulled into a host of projects, client meetings, etc. On our team, we make an intentional effort to integrate our co-ops throughout our work to provide them with the most valuable experience possible based on their personal goals. Outlined below are a set of generalized tasks that co-ops take on. Ultimately though, every co-op's experience will vary depending on their expressed interest in certain topics and tasks.

    Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

    + Evaluate customer energy usage profiles and forward markets to advise commercial and industrial customers on how they should procure natural gas and electricity.

    + Manage and author articles for our biweekly energy market update newsletters, staying up to date with energy current events and price drivers of natural gas and power markets.

    + Develop Excel-based energy market analytical models, incorporating historical natural gas and electricity data, futures contracts, and cost inputs at different U.S. locations to be utilized internally and presented to clients.

    + Develop client energy budgets, evaluate client electricity / natural gas contract performance, model client distribution tariffs, and audit client energy invoices.

    + Perform energy procurement activities such as creating requests for proposals (RFPs), assist in formulating hedging strategies, communicating with customers and suppliers, and contributing to advisory calls. This also includes helping customers procure green energy, including Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), carbon offsets, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

    + Create presentation materials for market updates. Relevant materials include natural gas supply, demand, and storage conditions, national weather forecasts, and regulatory development.

    + Perform market research as necessary to help manage client needs. Areas of research may include:

    + Utility company tariffs, policies, and rate cases.

    + Energy supplier terms and conditions.

    + State laws and regulations.

    + Sustainability standards, rules, and regulations.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience/Background:

    + High School Diploma/GED is required.

    + Previous experience in energy or an energy adjacent field is preferred.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    + Analytical capabilities.

    + A strong interest in energy, energy markets, and sustainability.

    + Good communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.

    + Curiosity and a willingness to learn.

    + Proficiency with Excel.

    + A self-starter attitude.

    Additional Information

    **Pay Range:** $26.00 per hour.
