Job Description
Saint Luke’s North Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, is currently hiring a **Pharmacy Buyer** . Under the supervision of a pharmacist, this role is responsible for a wide range of purchasing duties, including electronic drug procurement, receiving and processing orders, managing charge-credit transactions, and engaging with pharmaceutical representatives. The Pharmacy Buyer ensures the procurement of medications and supplies aligns with departmental standards and Saint Luke’s Health System (SLHS) policies.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Review and analyze purchasing documents to determine departmental needs, specifications, quantities, and delivery timelines.
+ Maintain cost-effective purchasing practices, identifying appropriate alternatives for medications affected by shortages, backorders, or high cost.
+ Place direct drug and supply orders with pharmaceutical vendors, including occasional negotiation on pricing and delivery terms.
+ Collaborate with the primary wholesaler to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
+ Notify supervisor and pharmacy staff of critical drug shortages and backorders in a timely manner.
+ Resolve invoice discrepancies related to pricing or quantities received, and process returns for damaged or incorrect shipments.
+ Coordinate the removal and return of recalled pharmaceutical products.
+ Stay up-to-date on regulations related to the 340B Drug Pricing Program and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance (for eligible facilities).
