Press Assistant Operator

Directly responsible to help assist all phases of set-up, adjustment, and operation of the Press. The back-fill operator will work with the print, cutter & assistant operator to check for quality issues, print quality, color matching verification, scores, cut, and correct board and PO is being used. This position will be expected to cover the cutter, print and assistant operators for Lunch and breaks. An expectation of this position is to cover, absences, vacations, or open positions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Maintain and operate auto stacker

* Randomly inspect product for defects. (Score line definition)

* Ensure that product is printed according to specifications. (Job jacket samples and/or PDF of art/color approval from customer)

* Manage all aspects of press performance such as productivity, quality, and maintenance PM\u2019s.

* Inform operator of any defective product immediately.

* Roll stand operations.

* Accurately record job data onto all daily production forms and inputted to Shop Floor as well as WIP Tracking.

* Able to operate both fork-lift and clamp truck lift.

* Use scanner to store items in locations for tracking purposes.

* Complete the assigned housekeeping log per position.

* Assist in set up of new jobs. (Full make readies/size changes)

* Perform and completed housekeeping duties daily.

* Can give direction or guidance to team members when needed.

* Can properly train new candidates when needed.

* Work with maintenance to perform PM's.

* Following all the required PPE & GMP\u2019s per WestRock policy.

* Performs other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by operator and supervisor.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School graduate or G.E.D. At least one year as an assistant operator if possible. Able to enter data in shop floor using computer

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic Math skills required. Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fraction and decimals. Able to convert fraction to decimal equivalent.

MECHANICAL SKILLS: Basic understanding of Machinery & processes. Be able to perform repairs (excluding electrical), remove, install, and adjust parts of machine. Trained in lock out/tag out procedures.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, write & understand basic English. Able to communicate effectively, get along with coworkers & management and deal effectively & professionally under pressure.

REASONING ABILITY: Job requires making decisions based on established guidelines regarding running or shutting down on defective work and operational problems/difficulties of all kinds.

ATTENDANCE: Accrued attendance points must be below 5. Excluding shift preference
