Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team builds and operates Microsoft datacenters, which in turn power Microsoft’s cloud business. We anticipate and provide capacity for continuous scale, enabling ~30% of Microsoft revenue through Commercial Cloud. The CO+I Engineering team (CO+IE) delivers services, applications, and automation supporting datacenter planning, construction, and operation. We own a large portfolio of services, including workflows that enable predicable, lowest cost datacenter construction, telemetry systems that drive high availability and optimized energy usage, and task and performance management applications that help our operation run as efficiently as possible. Cloud Operations + Innovation Engineering is a competitive advantage for Microsoft, and an important pillar in its cloud success.
Within the Cloud Operations & Innovation organization, we are the Inventory and Asset Management Engineering team that builds and operates Microsoft datacenters. We own inventory systems that track inventory and inventory operations in the datacenters, our data and services contribute a great portion of enabling Microsoft datacenters to run smoothly. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to our customers and partners worldwide. Our solutions orchestrate and coordinate with systems and processes across organizations in Microsoft. We acknowledge that the world will never be perfect, so our systems deal with it.
In 2025, our team will expand its scope to include integration capabilities with third-party Transportation Management Systems. As we support the rapid growth of AI Cloud and Infrastructure, we’re looking for builders who can navigate ambiguity and help design and implement scalable systems.
*This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.
*Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.
*This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 50%.

Responsibilities
+ Architect and Drive Vision: Lead the architectural direction and long-term vision for scalable, resilient, and efficient cloud services, ensuring alignment with Microsoft’s strategic goals.
+ Lead Cross-Functional Initiatives: Serve as the technical lead on complex, cross-disciplinary projects that span both business and engineering domains.
+ Design and Implementation: Develop and optimize scalable, high-performance services with a focus on fault tolerance, reliability, and resource efficiency.
+ Integration Engineering: Build robust integrations with internal Microsoft systems and external partner platforms, ensuring secure and seamless interoperability.
+ Strategic Collaboration: Partner with product managers and engineering leaders to translate business objectives into technical execution plans, contributing as both a collaborative team member and an autonomous problem solver.
+ Engineering Excellence: Champion best practices in software engineering, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and comprehensive documentation of design artifacts.
+ Service Reliability Engineering: Own live site operations, participate in on-call rotations, and lead root cause analyses with a commitment to rapid recovery and continuous improvement of service health.
+ Cloud Infrastructure Development: Design, develop, and operate large-scale, reliable cloud solutions focused on inventory management for datacenter operations.
+ Feature Delivery: Collaborate with program managers and business stakeholders to define, design, and deliver new features, coordinating with partner teams across the organization to ensure successful deployments.
+ Cultural Leadership: Embody and promote Microsoft’s values of growth mindset, customer obsession.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years of hands-on experience developing solutions on public cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Other Requirements:
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience integrating with Blue Yonder systems is highly desirable.
+ Background in supply chain software or logistics platforms.
+ Proven expertise in designing and implementing secure backend services using ASP.NET Core, .NET, and cloud technologies like Azure or AWS.
+ Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases including SQL Server, MongoDB, and Azure Cosmos DB.
+ Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, and React.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
