Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for the Medical Director – Paramedicine Program (Part-Time) position within our Health and Public Safety Technologies Division. This position is located at Atlanta Technical College’s Main Campus, just south of Downtown Atlanta.
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Safety Technologies, the Medical Director – Paramedicine Program (Part-Time) plays a vital role in the operation and advisement of the EMS education process. The Medical Director provides medical and instructional leadership across all phases of the Public Safety Technology EMS Programs and serves as a liaison between the program and affiliated hospital and field internship Medical Directors. This is a part-time position, up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.
The job duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:
• Deliver direct instruction to students in the classroom.
• Advise faculty on the accuracy of medical content.
• Review and approve the educational content of the curriculum and the quality of medical instruction provided by faculty.
• Review and approve medical content for all written exams, scenarios, and oral assessments (formative, summative, and capstone).
• Provide guidance on clinical instruction and practice.
• Collaborate with the Program Director to review curriculum and instructional materials.
• Participate in final summative and capstone practical evaluations prior to national board exams.
• Assist faculty in evaluating student clinical competencies and experiences.
• Support the Program Director in maintaining program quality.
• Serve as Chairperson of the Program Advisory Committee and attend biannual meetings.
• Attend program faculty meetings when possible.
• Participate in classroom presentations.
• Serve as Medical Director for ACLS, PHTLS, AMLS, EPC, and National Registry examinations.
• Coordinate and liaise with the physician community as needed.
• Periodically review student performance to ensure satisfactory progress.
• In collaboration with the Program Director, certify that each graduating student has met the required competencies.
• Complete all necessary state and national documentation.
• Maintain regular on-campus hours for curriculum review and approval.
• Ensure the program’s equipment and supplies are appropriate and meet current standards.

COMPETENCIES:
• Possess training and experience in out-of-hospital emergency care, patient transport, medical direction, and quality improvement
• Demonstrate knowledge of EMS education, legislation, and regulatory processes
• Possess the requisite knowledge and skills to advise the program leadership about the clinical and academic aspects of the program
• Knowledgeable in teaching the subjects assigned when applicable
• Knowledgeable about the education of the Emergency Medical Services Professions, including professional, legislative and regulatory issues
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess and demonstrate a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university AND Five (5) years of experience in management or the defined departmental area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:
• Possess a minimum of Five (5) years' experience in emergency medicine.
• Be a physician currently licensed and authorized to practice in the state of Georgia, and board certified or equivalent.
• Be actively involved in the local Emergency Medical Services system.
• Hold a current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor certification.
• Have adequate training or experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care, including the proper care and transport of patients, medical direction, and quality improvement.
• Board certified in EMS Medicine or Emergency Medicine.
