Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Reports To: EHS Manager
Position Summary
We are working with a client seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to lead and support safety initiatives in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in manufacturing—preferably in chemical or food-grade facilities—and a strong working knowledge of OSHA and ISO regulations. This role is key in driving a proactive safety culture through behavior-based safety (BBS) programs, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
+ Develop, implement, and monitor safety and health programs in compliance with OSHA, ISO, and internal standards.
+ Champion behavior-based safety initiatives to engage employees and reduce workplace incidents.
+ Serve as the primary contact for workers’ compensation and regulatory inspections (OSHA, FEMA, local/state agencies).
+ Conduct safety training for all levels of staff; maintain current manuals, procedures, and training materials.
+ Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
+ Participate in risk assessments and process hazard analyses (e.g., HAZOP, What-If, 5-Why).
+ Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure safety is integrated into all projects and processes.
+ Prepare and distribute safety communications, including metrics, alerts, and newsletters.
+ Support emergency response planning and readiness.
