• IT Engineer

    System One (Tulsa, OK)


    System One is seeking an experienced IT Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data infrastructure and services in a cloud-native environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong data engineering expertise, particularly in AWS and Apache Iceberg, who thrives in a collaborative and agile setting.

     

    Successful candidates must be able to provide proof of ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. This position is not open to corp-to-corp, subcontractor or independent consulting arrangements.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Design and implement scalable data lakehouse solutions using AWS and Apache Iceberg.

    + Build and automate ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from diverse sources.

    + Develop and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs for internal data access.

    + Leverage AWS services such as S3, EMR, Lambda, Lake Formation, and IAM for data processing and analytics.

    + Manage Apache Iceberg tables to support ACID transactions, schema evolution, and time travel.

    + Optimize data performance through partitioning, compaction, and tuning strategies.

    + Ensure data quality and integrity through validation and error-handling processes.

    + Implement robust data security measures and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

    + Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to deliver effective data solutions.

    + Provide technical support for data pipelines and API endpoints.

    + Maintain comprehensive documentation for data workflows and API specifications.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

    + Proven experience in data engineering with hands-on AWS cloud expertise.

    Technical Skills

    + Programming: Python, Java, or Scala

    + SQL: Strong skills in querying and data modeling

    + AWS: S3, EMR, Lambda, API Gateway, SageMaker, IAM

    + Apache Iceberg: Experience managing Iceberg tables

    + Big Data: Apache Spark, Hadoop

    + API Development: RESTful API design and security

    + ETL/Workflow: Apache Airflow or similar tools

    + DevOps: CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code

    Soft Skills

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

    + Excellent communication and collaboration skills

    + Ability to work independently and within agile teams

    Preferred Certifications

    + AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty or other relevant AWS certifications
