    The Microbiology Technician will perform microbiological testing to support the Quality Department. Reporting to the Microbiology Supervisor, this role offers hands-on technical responsibilities, professional growth opportunities, and exposure to a dynamic manufacturing environment.

     

    **Position:** Microbiology Technician

    **Location:** Roanoke County, VA

    **Shift:** 2nd Shift- Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM

    **Pay:** $22–$25 per hour (includes a $0.75 shift differential)

    **Terms:** Contract to Hire

    What You’ll Do:

    + Perform microbiological testing, including:

    + Aerobic plate counts on products, bulks, and raw materials

    + Enrichment procedures and Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET)

    + Environmental monitoring (monthly air plates, weekly water testing)

    + Auditing of cleaning and sanitation procedures

    + Prepare and maintain all media required for testing

    + Accurately document test results and sample data

    + Monitor and record equipment temperatures

    + Operate and maintain the autoclave properly

    + Maintain laboratory records and manage lab supply inventory

    + Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager

    What You’ll Need:

    Education/Experience/Training:

    + Bachelor’s degree preferred (Physical Sciences, Biology, or Microbiology);Associate’s degree or 5 years of relevant work experience accepted

    + Coursework in Biology and/or Microbiology preferred

    + Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

    + Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

    + Comfortable collaborating across departments and addressing issues proactively
