Description
The Mathematics Department at Stony Brook University expects to have one position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor available beginning in the fall semester of 2026 contingent on funding availability. We seek candidates with outstanding research achievements and potential, as well as a strong commitment to teaching. Candidates must have a PhD in mathematics and have held a tenured position or equivalent. Candidates must have an excellent publication record.
A requirement of the position includes teaching of undergraduate and graduate mathematics classes, and a commitment to departmental and university service. Applicants in all fields are encouraged to apply. Along with mathematicians working in areas of traditional interest in the department – which include geometry and topology in many flavors, complex and real analysis, dynamical systems, partial differential equations, mathematical physics, number theory, probability and mathematics education – we are also interested in building in other areas, including algebra.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in mathematics. Candidates must have an excellent publication record. Candidate must have held a tenured position or equivlent. Teaching of undergraduate and graduate mathematics classes. A commitment to departmental and university service.
