Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented **Mid-Level SAP HANA Database Administrator** to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing and maintaining SAP HANA databases, supporting enterprise applications, ensuring high availability, optimizing performance, and performing system backups and recovery. As a member of the team, you will collaborate with other database professionals and SAP specialists to ensure the smooth operation of mission-critical business applications.
Key Responsibilities:
+ **Database Administration** :
+ Administer, monitor, and optimize SAP HANA database instances to ensure peak performance, availability, and security.
+ Manage database backups, restores, and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
+ Perform database tuning and troubleshooting to resolve performance issues.
+ Monitor system health, implement alerts, and take proactive measures to avoid disruptions.
+ **Performance Optimization** :
+ Identify and implement database optimizations to improve application performance.
+ Analyze database queries, execution plans, and system resources to identify bottlenecks.
+ Implement and maintain database partitioning, compression, and other optimization strategies.
+ **System Upgrades & Patches** :
+ Plan, test, and implement SAP HANA updates, patches, and system upgrades.
+ Ensure proper testing and validation of new features and changes.
+ Collaborate with other teams to schedule and deploy maintenance with minimal downtime.
+ **Security & Compliance** :
+ Implement and maintain database security policies, including user access control and data encryption.
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal data protection regulations.
+ Audit and review database access logs for unauthorized access or security issues.
+ **Collaboration & Documentation** :
+ Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
+ Assist with the design and implementation of disaster recovery strategies for SAP HANA environments.
+ **Automation & Scripting** :
+ Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, or SQL scripts).
+ Develop and maintain monitoring scripts and tools to enhance the efficiency of day-to-day operations.
+ **Capacity Planning** :
+ Perform capacity planning to anticipate future growth and ensure proper resources are available.
+ Monitor database storage and optimize space usage.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
+ 3 years of experience working as a Database Administrator (DBA) with a focus on SAP HANA.
+ Strong proficiency in SAP HANA database architecture, installation, and configuration.
+ Hands-on experience with performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability solutions in SAP HANA.
+ Experience in working with SAP HANA tools (e.g., SAP HANA Studio, SAP HANA Cockpit, etc.).
+ Solid understanding of database security practices and compliance requirements.
+ Knowledge of SAP HANA monitoring tools and systems (e.g., SAP Solution Manager).
+ Proficiency in SQL, and experience with database scripting and automation (Python, Shell, etc.).
+ SAP HANA certification (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA).
+ Experience with SAP HANA cloud or hybrid environments.
+ Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows server administration.
+ Familiarity with data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), and data integration concepts.
+ Experience with other databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
Soft Skills:
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
+ Attention to detail, with a proactive attitude toward system optimization and issue resolution.

**Compensation Range Transparency** : SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 107300 - 230600 USD USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
