    The Department of Race, Gender, and Ethnic Studies is committed to theoretical, empirical, qualitative, textual, and community‐based research, pedagogy, service, and outreach. Utilizing transdisciplinary, global, and comparative approaches, we challenge paradigms that systematically marginalize the experiences of diverse populations. In doing so, we bring to bear issues as well as opportunities to address and engage power, privilege, and justice.

     

    Our degree offering contain courses within these categories: Critical Histories; Intersectionality and Coalition Politics; Creative Expressions & Social Change; Global Race, Power, & Resistance; and Community Organizing and Institutional Change. We are especially committed to nurturing civic‐minded and culturally informed students who strive to strengthen communities, nations, and our global world.     Position Summary

    We are seeking candidates with Race/Ethnic and/or Gender Studies (or related field) expertise who are qualified to teach Research Methods, and Racial Formation courses. Ideal candidates will also have a specialization in Environment/Climate Change and/or Native American and Indigenous Studies to teach courses offered with our Environment or Climate Change focus or in our Indigenous Studies Minor (https://catalog.colostate.edu/general-catalog/colleges/liberal-arts/ethnic-studies/indigenous-studies-minor/#requirementstext).

     

    Applicants with related expertise in Asian American, Black/African American, and/or Women and Gender Studies may be considered. We particularly invite instructors who are engaging with teaching materials that provide original ways of applying a race/ethnic studies framework to current theories and methods, justice phenomena, and activism. The applicant must demonstrate a knowledge base for pedagogies and epistemologies in Race and Ethnic Studies; potential for excellence in service and outreach; and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Qualified applicants will demonstrate the potential to teach upper division courses.

     

    Successful applicants are expected to build upon our departmental strengths using trans/interdisciplinary and engaged scholarship. Evidence of teaching and mentoring undergraduates from underrepresented student populations is highly desired. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a three-four course schedule yearly. This is a three year renewable position starting Spring 2026.

    Required Job Qualifications

    + PhD in Ethnic Studies, Women and Gender Studies or related field.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    + Ability to teach Research Methods and Racial Formation.

    + And/or ability to teach Environment/Climate Change courses.

    + And/or ability to teach Indigenous Studies courses.

    + Evidence of teaching expertise and mentoring undergraduate student populations is highly desired.

    + And/or ability to teach Asian American, Black/African American, and/or Women and Gender Studies.
